    Bird flu reached Malopolska.
    This is the eighth virus outbreak



    Chief Veterinary Officer warns that the avian influenza virus reached the Malopolska.
    It has been detected in the municipality of Książ Wielki, in the county Miech?w.
    This is the eighth outbreak of avian flu, which was recorded this season.
    Avian influenza virus was detected in a small farm in the municipality of Książ Wielki. The owner bred there twenty poultry: chickens and turkeys. Service has already implemented the appropriate procedures.
    Chief veterinarian appeals to poultry raised not to let range free, and protect farm buildings and feed from access by wild animals. You should also wear protective clothing.
    This is the eighth outbreak of avian flu

    In Poland so far found eight outbreaks of avian influenza. Apart from Malopolska, also in Lubuskie and the Carpathian mountains.
    In the latter province was infected with a virus from the poultry farm in Wapowce k. Przemysl. In it they were kept 72 different species of poultry, including chickens, hens ornamental ducks and guinea fowl.

    Eighth outbreak of avian flu confirmed in Malopolska

    On Tuesday 20 December, in the afternoon, the Chief Veterinary Officer has confirmed the occurrence of the sixth and seventh outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza on two farms in the municipality of Deszczno (gorzowski district, province. Lubuskie). They kept them in 6600 and 11 thousand turkeys.

    That same evening the eighth confirmed outbreak of influenza H5N8 in the Malopolska province, in the municipality of Książ Wielki (District miechowski).. The farm had about 20 pieces of chickens and turkeys.Veterinary services implement appropriate procedures for the control of highly pathogenic avian influenza. J However, it is primarily farmers and people associated with the maintenance of birds depends on how the situation develops.
