    Four Scottish children lose use of their limbs after contracting mysterious polio-like disease

    FOUR children in Scotland have been left hospitalised, with one fighting for his life in intensive care after catching the Enterovirus D68 disease.

    The horrifying virus has left the victims paralysed within days of catching the infection.

    All four appeared to have lost the use of their limbs after they were rushed into a hospital in Edinburgh, but in rare cases victims have been left fighting to breathe.

    Young children, between the ages of four and 12 are in the most danger of catching the virus, which has the possibility of leaving victims with long-term nerve damage.

    The ruthless disease currently has no cure or anti-viral vaccine. It is easily spread through coughs and sneezes with most infected being admitted to hospital with respiratory problems. In very rare cases, some have experienced neurological issues.

    There have been 38 confirmed cases so far this year, with health services issuing warnings to parents...
