People in the area have described seeing pipes coming from the family's house but it is not known whether a water pump was being used.

A Surrey Police spokesman said tests were continuing into the cause of Zane's death.

Operation Orne update: Officers continue to work with partner agencies on the investigation into boy's death

Yesterday evening water samples were obtained from the basement of the property by Environment Agency staff and analysed overnight with support from Thames Water.

Based on the results of the analysis, we have concluded that there is nothing in the water samples that may explain the cause of the incident.

The Environment Agency is continuing to assist on the ongoing police enquiry.' Chief Superintendent Dave Miller, from Surrey Police, said: "The investigation into Zane's tragic death is ongoing - our officers are following various lines of enquiry and we are continuing to work with a number of partner agencies.

"The information we have received from our partners at the Environment Agency in relation to the preliminary water testing gives an indication that there is no link between the quality of water at the location and the boy's death.

"The cause of death may take several days to determine and until we have confirmation of this it would be inappropriate to speculate.

"However, I hope that this development provides some reassurance to local residents.? -

08/02/2014 FURTHER UPDATE: Police in attendance at Chertsey incident

At 3.30am this morning Surrey Police were called to an address at Thameside, Chertsey following a request for assistance by the ambulance service.

The occupants of the property, two adults and a child had been taken unwell and were taken by ambulance to hospital.

A seven year old boy was later declared dead at the hospital. A man in his 40's and woman in her 30's remain in hospital in a serious condition which at this stage is not thought to be life threatening.

A specialist team from the fire service were deployed to the scene to investigate the circumstances.

Nearby properties were evacuated as a precaution and the occupants from the adjoining properties were advised to go to hospital to be checked out as a precaution.

Officers visited premises within the area to reassure local residents and gave the advice to stay indoors whilst the investigation is underway.
Fifteen people including police officers were taken to hospital as a precaution. One person who showed signs of illness and has now been released from hospital.

A young boy has died of suspected carbon monoxide poisoning after being overcome by fumes from the pump his family were apparently using to remove flood water

The seven-year-old boy was rushed to hospital on Saturday, along with his parents, after the stricken family were discovered by fire crews evacuating homes in Chertsey, Surrey, as the River Thames burst its banks.

Police were called by ambulance crews after a child and his father were ?taken unwell? at a house in Thameside, at 3.30am.

The boy was pronounced dead at Chertsey Hospital, while his father, aged in his 40s, and his mother, aged in her 30s, remain in a serious but not life-threatening condition.

David North, who works in Chertsey, said: ?Properties were in the middle of being evacuated because of the flooding in the area and a house was found with an adult and a child possibly with carbon monoxide poisoning.?

He said a pump was coming out of the window of the house where the casualties are believed to have been taken from and he suspected that fumes from the pump motor could be to blame.

Boy, seven, dies as Chertsey homes evacuated

A seven-year-old boy has died and his parents are in a serious condition in hospital after an incident at a house in Surrey.

Police said the family were taken ill at a house in Thameside, Chertsey, in the early hours.

Officers said the cause of his illness was not yet known but they could not rule out a link to recent flooding.

Fifteen people, including officers, were taken to hospital as a precaution and nearby homes were evacuated.

Ch Supt Dave Miller said: "The cause of the illness is currently unknown but what I can confirm is that the people who were taken ill are from a very localised area.

'Vomiting and diarrhoea'

"We cannot rule out that there may be a link to flooding in the local area and whilst the investigation is ongoing, local residents should follow sensible precautions."

He said residents from properties near the house were advised to go to hospital to be checked as a precaution.
