    Issued on: 15/10/2020 - 21:12
    Text by: FRANCE 24

Several hundred health workers took to the streets of Paris on Thursday afternoon to protest against conditions in French hospitals, as the number of new coronavirus cases surges across the country.

... Demonstrations also took place in a number of other French cities, including Annecy, Besan?on, Saint-?tienne and Rennes.

With infection rates rising and beds in intensive care units (ICU) rapidly filling up, health workers are demanding better salaries, improved working conditions and the hiring of more staff in order to respond to the outbreak.

#COVID19| I call on our fellow citizens to understand the gravity of the situation. The threshold of 30,000 positive cases has been crossed this evening. We all have, within us, the possibility, through our behavior, to protect ourselves, to protect others and to slow down the circulation of the virus.
