A yellow fever vaccination caravan was launched on January 15, 2022 in Melfi, Guéra province. It is an initiative of the National Nomadic Health Program of the Ministry of Public Health.

This vaccination campaign follows the detection of a few positive cases of yellow fever in the department of Garada, health district of Melfi. To prevent the disease from prospering, the Ministry in charge of Health, via its delegation, deemed it useful to have the populations of the district vaccinated. 122,362 people for this operation. Administrative and health authorities took part in the launching ceremony.

The prefect of the department of Garada has already received his dose. He appreciates the mobilization of the population who take part in the collective efforts to eradicate yellow fever from Chad. 400 people were mobilized to identify, raise awareness and vaccinate every person aged 9 months to 60 years for this campaign.

For Dr Anigué Iré Diane, provincial health delegate of Guéra, “a vaccinated person is equal to a protected person”. He invites all the inhabitants to get vaccinated.

It should be noted that children under the age of 9 are not affected by this vaccination campaign against yellow fever.
"Safety and security don't just happen, they are the result of collective consensus and public investment. We owe our children, the most vulnerable citizens in our society, a life free of violence and fear."
