Yellow Fever Virus (YFV) in Brazil: MOH data for 2017/2018 season as of EW 16/2018 (26 Apr)
Human cases: 6356 notified cases with 3496 discarded, 1642 suspected, and 1218 confirmed cases with 364 YFV associated fatalities reported by Brazil MOH as of 26 April; the number of suspected, confirmed cases and deaths increased compared to the previous week. In Non-Human Primate (NHP), 6965 notified cases with 1571 discarded, 2378 suspected, 729 confirmed and 2287 "not determined" cases have reported by Brazil MOH as of 26 April, with numbers increasing. As in the previous season, the southeast with Minas Gerais and Sao Paulo is the mostly affected area. Compared to the 2016-2017 YFV season, the number of suspected confirmed cases and YFV associated fatalities is higher in the 2017-2018 when compared to EW 15/2017 . The mortality rate varies between 16.7% and 100% (average:41.44%).
