DANVERS, MA — A second Massachusetts human case of West Nile Virus was confirmed on Thursday, with a woman in her 60s contracting WNV, according to the Department of Public Health.

The confirmation comes days after the Mass DPH confirmed the first case of the season in a man in his 70s in Middlesex County and within weeks of two mosquito batches in Danvers testing positive for WNV...

Worcester, MASS-- The Massachusetts Department of Public Health announced two more human cases of West Nile virus, now bringing the total number of cases this year to four. All human cases were announced this week. The most recent cases are reported to have been exposed in Hampden and Middlesex counties. Earlier this week, the DPH also reported cases in Middlesex and Essex counties.

2 new West Nile virus cases detected in Mass.; risk level high in 43 towns, cities

Two additional people in Massachusetts have tested positive for the West Nile virus (WNV), state officials announced.

The new WNV cases — which were found in two men in their 60s — bring the total number of confirmed human cases to six this season. It is most likely the men were exposed in Worcester County, the Department of Public Health (DPH) said.

This elevates the risk level of West Nile virus to “high” in 15 towns and cities. These include Auburn, Berlin, Boylston, Charlton, Holden, Hopkinton, Hudson, Leicester, Millbury, Northborough, Paxton, Shrewsbury, West Boylston, Westborough and Worcester...

BOSTON —

Health officials announced on Thursday that a Boston resident has tested positive for West Nile virus.

According to the Boston Public Health Commission, the resident, a man in his 50s, is being treated and his condition is improving. He has not recently traveled outside of the city.

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health elevated the West Nile virus risk level in Boston to "high" last month based on mosquito samples...
