HEALTH authorities have contacted up to 70 patients at Wexford General Hospital in August over fears of a typhoid outbreak.
Those alerted were being treated at the hospital at the same time that a patient was confirmed as having the highly contagious disease.
The patient suffering from the illness presented himself to the hospital?s emergency department on August 7 and was admitted with a gastrointestinal complaint.
It is feared other patients may have used the same toilet facilities as the person concerned.
