A person has died following a tuberculosis (TB) outbreak in a Welsh village.
A further 80 people in the Llwynhendy area of Llanelli, Carmarthenshire, may have also come in contact with the disease and have been told to attend screenings for the condition in June. Hywel Dda University Health Board have been working alongside Public Health Wales to investigate any potential health threat. Authorities became concerned after a death last year was linked to TB and now think there could be other related ?active and latent TB cases?.
Public Health Wales said: ?People in the Llwynhendy area in Carmarthenshire who may have been exposed to tuberculosis (TB) are being urged to attend a TB community screening exercise run by Public Health Wales and Hywel Dda University Health Board.?...

Hundreds of Welsh villagers have been queuing up for tuberculosis screenings after an outbreak of the disease killed a grandmother and left 28 ill.

The spread of TB has been linked to a pub in Llwynhendy, South Wales, with regulars invited to undergo tests.

It follows the death of Margaret Pelger, 64, who passed away five days after she was diagnosed with the disease in September last year. Since 2010, 29 people have been diagnosed with TB in the Llanelli area.

Many of those who have been infected have links to the Joiners Arms, while Mrs Pelger's family said she would have eaten an occasional dinner in the bar.

Customers and employees of the pub between 2005 and 2018, who have not previously been identified as a contact of someone infected with TB, are among those to take part in screenings...

A mass screening carried out after a woman died from tuberculosis (TB) has identified 76 people carrying an inactive form of the infection.

More than 1,400 people were tested in Llwynhendy, Carmarthenshire, after Margaret Pegler, 64, died and 29 cases of TB were identified in an outbreak.

The exercise found the cases of latent TB, which is not infectious and cannot be passed on.

Hywel Dda health board is inviting those affected to attend a clinic...

Parents of children in Carmarthenshire are being urged to come forward to have them tested following an outbreak of tuberculosis (TB).

Public Health Wales and Hywel Dda University Health Board have made the call after hundreds of people were screened in the Llwynhendy area of Llanelli earlier this year.
