TB case aboard B.C. bus sparks passenger health advisory

VANCOUVER ? An active case of tuberculosis has led to a public health advisory by the British Columbia Centre for Disease Control for people who travelled on a Greyhound bus from Vancouver to Kelowna on Oct. 11.
According to the disease centre, the warning is for passengers who travelled on Greyhound No. 5098 that day, who may have been exposed to another passenger with tuberculosis.
The ill person was on the bus that left Vancouver at 5:45 p.m., arrived in Chilliwack at 7:45 p.m., left Chilliwack at 8:05 p.m. and arrived in Kelowna at 11:55 p.m., during the infectious stage of the disease.
The individual is receiving treatment in Kelowna.
The entire route of bus No. 5098 on Oct. 11 was: Vancouver, Coquitlam, Langley, Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Hope, Merritt, Westbank and finally the Kelowna bus depot.
Passengers who were on the bus may be at some risk of exposure and are advised to contact a public health official to take a TB skin test...
