TWO Australians living in the Torres Strait have developed a potentially deadly strain of multi-drug-resistant tuberculosis.
They are the first cases resulting from a failure to adequately treat the disease in Papua New Guineans.
Amid a debate over the planned closure of two Queensland-run TB clinics in the Torres Strait, ostensibly on financial grounds, the spread of the mutant strain has exposed the difficulty Australia has containing PNG's health problems...
