About 200 people at McMaster to be tested at clinics
A McMaster University student is being treated for an active case of tuberculosis as Hamilton's public health department investigates the circumstances surrounding the infection.
About 200 people on campus, who may have been in contact with the student, have been targeted for testing in special clinics to be held on campus next week.
McMaster spokesperson Gord Arbeau said the university is working with the public health department and has contacted those people, most of them students.
The public health department says there is low risk that members of that group will develop the active illness, which can lie dormant for years or, in about 90 per cent of cases, never become active...
