The public health system issued a health alert across the country in the presence of a challenging disease to be eradicated: tuberculosis, a disease that has acquired a new, more resistant and lethal.

The problem, experts say, is serious, since it is not typical or sensitive tuberculosis, as doctors call it, but of the so-called drug-resistant TB, the multidrug and extremely durable, diseases have become immune to one or more drugs that are traditionally used to cure a patient.

In the latter two cases, the cure rates decrease because the combination of drugs may be effective is not available in the country.

Mexico is not the only country with this alert. The disease is an emerging threat on the planet, says the World Health Organization (WHO), an organization that in 2010 warned that drug-resistant tuberculosis reached unprecedented levels, as in parts of Asia and Africa, one in four people is resistant to standard treatment regimens.

The WHO says that in the world there are about 600 thousand new cases a year of multidrug resistance, and that "at least 19% of those with multidrug resistance are extremely resilient," situation that called for countries to gain access universal diagnosis and treatment of these types of tuberculosis.

This disease is one of the oldest that attacks mainly the lungs and, if not treated early or adequately, it can cause death. It is spread by air when an infected person coughs and the bacillus spreads through saliva. He stays in people who have an illness that predisposes them and affects their defenses, like diabetes or HIV / AIDS.

Elizabeth Ferreira, researcher at the National Public Health Institute, says that in Latin America, the most sensitive levels of tuberculosis occur in Mexico, Brazil and Peru.

The Health Ministry confirmed the alert for the emergence of a new type of tuberculosis immune to conventional drugs.

The state epidemiologist Alfredo Rodr?guez Trujillo is reported TB drug resistance "does not respond to ordinary schemes established by the World Health Organization, rooted mainly in border municipalities account for 80 percent of the 900 cases on average are recorded each year.

And is that the public health system declared a health alert across the country in the presence of this disease that has become more resilient and deadly and that according to statistics, of the 20 thousand new cases are presented, 2.6 percent developed this type of tuberculosis.

"What you say is real, in recent years the epidemiological pattern has changed and now there is a new form that is a condition that does not respond."
Stated that timely follow-up cases allows 90 percent of patients regain their health.

This new form of tuberculosis has its origin in the abandonment treatment generates resistance and that makes the drug has no effect

Drug resistance is a serious problem in the state, but acknowledged that it can grow unless we take preventive measures which the situation.

On instructions from the Secretary of Health, Norberto Trevi?o, epidemiological surveillance actions have strengthened, as a result of this international epidemic alert Tamaulipas carried out a monitoring of patients with cough, to know their exact evolution.

Apart from the Department of Microbacteriosis by Gonzalo Crespo Solis has the DOTS-Directly Observed Treatment-through which is visited daily to people infected with TB bacilli.

Alfredo Rodriguez said the drug-resistant TB treatment costs more than conventional medicine.

"These are drugs that we import from the United States and were not even considered in the first line."

He stressed that globally there is a reemergence of the disease for two reasons: the increased incidence and new forms of expression of this highly contagious disease.

If a person has persistent dry cough and weight loss without cause must immediately go to request a copy bacilli study, to exclude the case of the tuberculosis bacillus.
