Bobcat that attacked family in Brookfield was rabid

Selectman Stephen J. Comtois, the board's chairman, made the announcement at a board meeting Tuesday night. He said lab reports came in earlier that day.
?The bobcat has been proven to be rabid,? he said, noting that the victims were already being treated with a series of vaccination shots.
Roger D. Mundell Jr., of South Maple Street, shot and killed the animal after it attacked him and his nephew. The bobcat, which appeared in Mr. Mundell's garage, bit him on the forehead and clawed his shoulders and arms. It also attacked and bit his 15-year-old nephew before Mr. Mundell could pin it down with a crutch, while his wife, Cindy L. Mundell, ran into the house for his gun, which he used to kill it.
