Darbhanga kids not polio cases, say Bihar health officials

    Banjotkaur Bhatia,TNN | Feb 25, 2015

PATNA: Bihar health officials have ruled out reports of any polio case in the state. A report appeared in a section of the media earlier said two children from Baheri block of Darbhanga district were suspected to be suffering from polio.

State immunization officer Dr N K Sinha said, "Paralysis is a symptom of many diseases. These two children might be suffering from one of such diseases, but not polio. Even though polio has been eradicated from the state, random sampling has been a norm to keep the surveillance high."

He said the two children's stool samples have been sent to a WHO-accredited lab in Ahmedabad and its report is expected within three weeks.
