    Meningococcal case 19 September 2022

    A case of invasive meningococcal disease has been notified in a 21-year-old male from metropolitan Adelaide. The patient has been admitted to hospital and is in a serious condition.

    The strain has been identified as serogroup B.

    SA Health has identified multiple people who had contact with the patient, of whom three people have been directed to receive clearance antibiotics...

      A 36-year-old Australian man has died at home from invasive meningococcal disease as concern mounts cases are tracking far above the same time last year.

      The man, from metropolitan Adelaide, died from the rare but extremely serious illness in his home, according to an SA Health statement issued on Friday.
