A person has died from meningitis in Waterloo region, which the chief medical officer says is rare.
Hsiu-Li Wang, the chief medical officer with Region of Waterloo Public Health, says they will not release details of the individual expect that the person was a young adult who died during the week of Oct. 14.
"What happened here is very rare and very tragic," Wang said.
She adds there are only a handful of cases of meningitis reported to public health every year and those are often treated with antibiotics. It's even more rare for someone to die...
