New case of meningitis in Lombardy, this time in the province of Brescia. A 19-year-old student living in Robecco and who attends the high school Pascal Manerbio is hospitalized yesterday, Monday, February 20, in intensive care, and if his situation allows will be transferred in the coming hours in the infectious department of the Civil Brescia.
The suspected diagnosis of meningococcal type C infection and pending the outcome of the tests is playing prophylaxis for students and teachers.

It should however be assessed the situation in recent weeks. So far this year have been 11 cases of meningitis, one every 4.5 days, double the number in 2016 (one in every nine days and a half) and almost three times compared to 2015 (one day to 12 days). There were two deaths and, says Minister for Health, Giulio Gallera, "in light of the new case I decided to start a study on the epidemiological situation and on any measures to be taken".
