    Abdullah Sayo, head of the School Health Office in the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of National Education, Primary Education and Sports of Tiznit, stated that the matter concerns a case of infection recorded in a primary school in the Rakkada community, and four cases of infection in a school in the Anmal community, both of the Tiznit province.

    Sayo explained, in a statement to SNRTnews, that as soon as the directorate was notified of the infection cases, contact was made with the interests of the Ministry of Health, where a medical committee visited the two educational institutions, examined the nature of the infection cases, and took the necessary medical measures.

    He continued that the infected cases were transferred for treatment to the Tiznit Regional Hospital, after determining the necessary medical vaccines, with follow-up treatment, stressing that the situation is normal and does not cause concern.

    The Health Committee confirmed, according to the same official, that these cases do not pose a problem to the normal course of school life, stressing that the two educational institutions will not be closed, because these cases are not contagious, while health monitoring of these educational institutions will be maintained.

    According to the same source, female and male students are being educated about the health measures that should be taken to avoid infection, and the measures that should be taken in the event of infection, given that the Tiznit province has not previously recorded cases of leishmaniasis.

    Leishmaniasis, according to the World Health Organization, is a group of diseases caused by single-celled parasites of more than 20 Leishmania species.

    According to Al Akhbar sources , the Ministry of Health is preparing to launch new medical campaigns for the benefit of students and residents of douars located in the infected provinces. The same sources recall that a previous campaign made it possible to examine 29,600 students in these regions, or 60% of the targeted student population.

    As a reminder, the ministry has handled more than 8,000 cases. Medical sources in an infected province report that 20 new cases have been identified among students since the start of the year and until mid-February.
