    Mexico City.- The country accumulates 222 probable cases of severe acute hepatitis, which comes from an unknown cause. The CDMX registered 48, the State of Mexico, 29, and Veracruz and Hidalgo 12.
    Except for Baja California, Sonora, Durango, Zacatecas and Chiapas, all federal entities present at least one case.

    The Epidemiology Department reported that the group from zero to five years continues to be the most affected, since it accumulates 175 of the 22 probable cases, that is, 78 percent.

    The Weekly Technical Report Severe Acute Hepatitis of unknown cause in Children in Mexico detailed on December 5, that 84.24% of children presented jaundice (yellow skin), 59.01% abdominal pain and 56.76%, vomiting.

    Some other symptoms in probable cases of severe acute hepatitis of unknown cause in children are nausea, diarrhea, and anorexia.

    In addition, on 5 April 2022, the United Kingdom notified WHO of 10 cases that tested negative for hepatitis A and E in Scotland in previously healthy children under 10 years of age.

    Following these reports, cases of severe acute hepatitis of unknown cause have been reported in children from 35 countries in five World Health Organization (WHO) regions , including Mexico.

    Worldwide, 1,100 probable cases had been reported in children under 16 years of age; 484 in Europe, 435 in the Americas, 70 in the Eastern Pacific, 19 in Southeast Asia and two in the Eastern Mediterranean, for this year up to July 12.
