    Hepatitis A Outbreak Strikes Gloucester County
    To combat the outbreak, the county is offering free vaccinations for those without insurance.

    Health officials in New Jersey are urging people to get vaccinated amid an outbreak of Hepatitis A in Gloucester County.

    The county has seen eight cases of the viral infection in the last nine weeks alone, county spokeswoman Debra Sellitto said in a news release. In a typical year, Gloucester County usually gets less than 10, she said.

    The recent cases are unconnected to one another and have cropped up in different cities throughout the county. The infected are all adults over the age of 25, Sellitto said.

    To combat the outbreak, the Gloucester County Department of Public Health is offering free Hepatitis A vaccinations to those who don't have insurance. People can call the health department at 856-218-4101 to make a vaccination appointment...

    State health officials are stepping up efforts to immunize homeless and drug-addicted individuals in South Jersey in response to a spike in hepatitis A cases.

    The state is supplying hundreds of vaccines to three county health departments. A cluster of 26 cases have been reported this year in three counties ? 11 in Gloucester, nine in Camden and six in Burlington...

      An outbreak of hepatitis A with 23 confirmed cases has been traced to a food handler who worked in the kitchen of a private Morris County country club, state officials said Thursday.

      One infected individual remained "seriously ill" on Thursday, according to New Jersey Department of Health spokeswoman Donna Leusner.

      Patrons of the Mendham Golf and Tennis Club are anxiously awaiting a Monday deadline for the incubation period to pass for the infectious liver disease, which in some cases can lead to liver failure....

        Six Dead From Hepatitis A Outbreak, 500 Infected

        NEW JERSEY – Six people have died as a result of a hepatitis A outbreak in New Jersey, according to officials from the NJ Department of Health (NJDOH).

        Officials are warning residents against the outbreak, noting that 500 cases have been reported and 308 people have been hospitalized throughout 21 NJ counties, including Ocean and Monmouth Counties.

        Ocean County has seen 14 reported cases of hepatitis A, along with eight cases reported in Monmouth County.

        According to the NJDOH, a recent confirmed case of hepatitis A was found in Paterson, NJ involving a food handler at Brother’s Produce who worked while he or she was potentially infectious between Sept. 30 and Oct. 5...
