    DOH Confirms Two Hepatitis A Cases On Kaua?i

    Two cases of hepatitis A in Kaua?i residents are being investigated by the Hawai?i Department of Health (DOH). Symptoms began from November 2017 and the investigation is ongoing. The strain of the virus in both cases appears to be the same one currently circulating in California.

    ?As our investigators continue their work, we want to remind Hawai?i residents that hepatitis A vaccination is highly effective in preventing infection,? said state Epidemiologist Dr. Sarah Park. ?With large, multi-state outbreaks occurring across the country, it is important that we all take precautions to prevent hepatitis A infection whether at home, work, recreating, or traveling.?...

    Mapunapuna restaurant worker possibly infected with hepatitis A, health officials say

    State Department of Health officials said this morning they are investigating a possible case of hepatitis A in a Mapunapuna restaurant employee.

    They said that during the potential infectious period from Dec. 1 to Jan. 6, the person worked as a food service employee at Wah Kung Restaurant, at 1151 Mapunapuna St. ?At this time, no infections have been linked to exposure at this business. DOH is providing this information to prevent possible new cases,? officials said in a news release...
