At least 20 dengue patients were hospitalised across the country in the 24 hours till 8:00am on Monday, taking the official tally of hospitalised patients to 446 since January 1.
Only one dengue patient was hospitalised outside the capital city and the rest in it, said a press release of the Directorate General of Health Services. At least 80 dengue patients were still under treatment at different health facilities on the day, with 76 of them being in Dhaka and four others outside Dhaka, said the release.
The DGHS data showed that 94 patients were hospitalised in the six days of June, 163 in May, 23 in April, 20 in February and March each and 126 in January.
The health directorate in a pre-monsoon survey found a higher density of Aedes mosquitos in Dhaka in April this year compared to 2021 and predicted a worsening dengue situation unless preventive steps were taken...
