    A state of calamity has been declared in the town of San Joaquin in Iloilo due to the continuous increase in dengue cases.

    The San Joaquin municipal administrator said at least 105 people had fallen ill to the disease this month, according to a “24 Oras” report on Tuesday.

    This is over 400% higher in dengue cases than the same period last year.

    Aside from San Joaquin, the towns of Guimbal and Tubungan have also noted a rise in dengue cases...

      Dengue cases hit nearly 65,000 from January to June 25; 90% up from last year

      MANILA, Philippines — Dengue cases reached 64,797 nationwide from January to June 25, which is 90 percent higher than cases recorded in the same period last year, the Department of Health (DOH) reported Monday.

      The DOH said dengue cases from January to June 25, 2021, were 37,074.

      “Cumulatively, cases this year are 90 percent higher compared to the reported cases during the same period in 2021,” the health agency said in a statement.

      Central Luzon posted the highest number of dengue cases during the period, with 9,426, which is 15 percent of the total cases, based on the data released by the DOH. Central Visayas trails it with 7,741 (12 percent); and the Zamboanga Peninsula with 5,684 (9 percent)...

        Dengue cases up 773 percent in Negros Occ

        Dengue cases in Negros Occidental have further risen to 2,036 for the period from January to July 9 this year. That is an increase of 1,803 cases, or 773.82 percent, compared 233 cases in the same period last year, according to Provincial Health Officer Dr. Ernell Tumimbang.

        The total attack rate of dengue cases for Negros Occidental was also reported by the Provincial Health Office at 78.1 per 100,000 of its total population.

        Over the past weeks, Tumimbang said that some local government units of Negros Occidental have reached the dengue alert level threshold, although not the whole province.

        The Department of Health reported that Western Visayas is now on the threshold of a dengue epidemic...

          MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines has recorded over 16,000 cases of dengue in the past month, with Central Luzon logging the most number of infections, the Department of Health said Tuesday.

          According to the DOH, 16,324 dengue cases were reported from June 5 to July 2. Central Luzon accounted for 20% or 3,196 of the recent cases, followed by Metro Manila with 1,729 cases, and Central Visayas with 1,703 cases.

          The agency said that 13 out of 17 regions in the country have already exceeded the epidemic threshold in the past four weeks.

          Central Luzon, MIMAROPA, Bicol region, Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Davao region, Soccsksargen, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, and Cordillera Administrative Region showed a “sustained increasing trend” in the past month.

              MANILA, Philippines — Dengue cases in the country continue to rise as close to a million infections were reported from Jan. 1 to July 16 this year, the Department of Health (DOH) said yesterday.

              Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said the 852,597 cases were 106 percent higher than those reported during the same period last year.

              “Cumulatively, dengue cases were reported in Central Luzon with 13,449; Central Visayas, 8,905, and National Capital Region, 694.

              From June 19 to July 16, the DOH recorded 20,261 cases in three regions that posted the highest number of infections.

              These are Central Luzon with 4,529 cases; Cagayan Valley, 2,151, and NCR with 1,985...

                MANILA, Philippines — Dengue cases continue to go up in nine of the 17 regions in the country, according to the Department of Health (DOH).

                At a press briefing yesterday, DOH officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire said these are in Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Cordillera Administrative Region and National Capital Region.

                The DOH had earlier said 15 of the 17 regions had surpassed the dengue epidemic threshold.

                Latest data showed that 92,343 dengue cases were reported nationwide from Jan. 1 to July 23...

                    The number of dengue cases in the Central Visayas region has breached 12,000 this year, according to latest data from the Department of Health (DOH).

                    From January 1 to August 20 this year, the region has logged 12,135 dengue cases.

                    This is 660 cases higher than from last week. The region had around 11,000 dengue cases 2 weeks ago.

                    The number of dengue-related deaths in the region this year has also reached 73...

                        PH breaches 145k dengue cases, reports 39 new deaths

                        Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 14) — The country’s dengue cases have climbed to 145,341 as of Aug. 27, a 105% increase from the cases recorded in the same period last year, the Department of Health’s (DOH) data showed.

                        Health authorities reported an additional 16,995 cases, of which 3,512 were recorded from Aug. 21 to 27.

                        Most of the recent infections came from the National Capital Region, Calabarzon and Cagayan Valley, the report showed.

                        The DOH noted that only 52,697 dengue patients were logged during the same period in 2021.

                        There were also 39 new deaths added, bringing the death toll to 461 from Jan. 1 to Aug. 27. This is higher than the 181 deaths recorded during the same period the previous year...

                          Dengue cases in Central Visayas reach more than 13,200

                          The number of dengue cases in the Central Visayas region has reached more than 13,200 this year, the latest health bulletin from the Department of Health in Region 7 showed.

                          According to DOH-7 data, there are now 13, 263 dengue cases for the whole region from January up to the second week of September this year.

                          The number marked an increase of more than 1,000 new cases from August 20.

                          Cebu province still has the most number of cases at 5,291 and 32 deaths followed by Cebu City which now has 2,373 cases with deaths remaining at 25.

                          Bohol province has 1,960 cases and one death, while Negros Oriental has 1,484 cases and six deaths.

                          The component cities of Lapu-Lapu City and Mandaue have 1,340 and 708 cases respectively.

                          Siquijor province has 107 cases with no deaths since the start of 2022.

                          Despite the increase, no local government unit has recommended to place their areas under an outbreak declaration...

                            Dengue cases in Bacolod City up by 226.9%

                            DENGUE cases in Bacolod City have continued to increase and are now 226.9 percent higher as of September 10, 2022 compared to the same period last year.

                            Records from the City Health Office (CHO) showed that the city had a total of 765 dengue cases with 10 fatalities from January 1 to September 10, 2022.

                            For the same period last year, there were only 234 cases and three deaths.

                            Records also showed that of 61 barangays, Barangays 12, Mansilingan and Taculing were identified as dengue hotspots areas, or the barangays with an increasing number of dengue cases for four consecutive weeks....

                              All provinces in Central Visayas are seeing an increase in dengue cases, the latest bulletin of the Department of Health confirmed.

                              Based on its data, there are now 15,636 cases in Central Visayas, which were logged from January to October 2022.

                              This is about 2,000 cases higher compared to the last time the department released data on the illness at the end of September.

                              Cebu province still tops the number of cases with more than 6,398, followed by Cebu City with 2,696 cases.

                              Bohol came in third with 2,334 cases while Negros Oriental followed with 1,814 cases.

                              Lapu-Lapu City has 1,455 cases while Mandaue has 800...

                                MANILA, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- The Philippines' health department said Monday that deaths from dengue fever have climbed to 642 this year as the mosquito-borne disease cases rose by 191 percent from the same period last year.

                                The Department of Health has tallied 196,728 cases from Jan. 1 to Nov. 5. The data showed that most cases broke out in the main Luzon island, including Metro Manila and its neighboring areas.

                                In the same period last year, the DOH only recorded 67,537 cases and 247 deaths...
