    St. Vincent Health Authorities Dealing with Dengue Outbreak

    Health authorities are urging that students be allowed to wear long trousers and long-sleeve shirts at schools in an effort to help combat the dengue fever outbreak, which has claimed two lives, including a nine-year-old student.

    St. Vincent and the Grenadines is experiencing its worst outbreak of the mosquito-borne viral illness in eight years, with 274 cases confirmed by laboratory tests as of Monday.

    Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Dr. Simone Keizer-Beache told a news conference that correspondence had been sent to the Ministry of Education advising that it consider allowing children, students to wear long pants and long sleeves so that they would decrease their exposure...

    30-year-old female is the 6th person to die from dengue in SVG

    A sixth person in St Vincent and the Grenadines has died from complications of Dengue Fever.

    A release from the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment today, Friday, October 2 said a 30-year-old female with a pre-existing condition has died.

    “The patient, who had a pre-existing condition, was admitted to the ICU in a critical condition and died during the evening of Thursday October 1, 2020,” the release said...
