  • France - 12 indigenous cases of dengue?detected - 2020

    July 31, 2020

Transmission of the dengue virus has been identified in the H?rault department, in the town
    from Cessenon-sur-Orb
. This indigenous case has been taken care of and there is no cause for concern about his health.

This person was infected in mid-July while staying near a swimming area and
nautical activities between the towns of Cessenon-sur-Orb and Murviel-l?s-B?ziers, at a place called Le R?als.

The imported case causing the contamination (returning from a trip to a risk area) was identified at
    proximity.

Dengue is a generally mild illness whose symptoms are similar to those of the flu (strong
fever, joint pain, severe headache), can be temporarily disabling. This
disease is transmitted from person to person through the bite of a tiger mosquito (Aedes
albopictus) previously infected with the virus.

Since the start of the seasonal surveillance period on May 1 and with the exception of this event,
all cases reported nationally are "imported" cases, linked to returning travelers
    in France.

A case is said to be “indigenous” when a person contracts the disease without having traveled to the area.
contaminated within 15 days of onset of symptoms. In view of this "indigenous" case
identified in the H?rault department, reinforced prevention measures are being implemented in
proximity of the case and the affected area.

A suspected case of dengue fever in downtown Nice, an operation against the tiger mosquito

    09/02/2020

The Interdepartmental Agreement for Mosquito Control of the Mediterranean Coast (EID M?diterran?e) carried out an operation this Wednesday morning in the city center of Nice while the ARS suspects a case of dengue.

A special mosquito control intervention is underway this Wednesday morning in Nice. The regional health agency Paca has mandated the interdepartmental agreement for mosquito control to carry out a targeted treatment against the species of tiger mosquito around a suspected case of dengue, chikungunya or Zika.

"This exceptional preventive treatment is essential in order to avoid the establishment of a local chain of transmission of the disease", details a notice distributed to residents of the bottom of avenue de Pessicart and boulevard Mantega-Righi.

This operation simply consists of spraying an insecticide on the public highway from a vehicle 44 supplemented if necessary by small targeted interventions using portable devices in the outdoor spaces of private areas.

Nice: An indigenous case of dengue detected

        sept 4 2020

HEALTH - The ARS and Public Health France are currently carrying out an investigation in Nice among the neighborhood because dengue is transmitted from man to man

An indigenous case of dengue , linked to the tiger mosquito, was diagnosed in Nice . If the affected person is cured, a "control analysis is underway by the national arbovirus center", informs the Regional Health Agency (ARS).

This is the only indigenous case of dengue "identified in the region", underlines the ARS in its press release on Friday. "We speak of an indigenous case when a person has contracted the disease on national territory and has not traveled to a contaminated area in the 15 days preceding the onset of symptoms," explains the agency.

Possible outbreak of dengue fever in Nice
Health authorities in the southern city of Nice are warning of a possible outbreak of native dengue fever spread by tiger mosquitoes after two cases were confirmed. Around a dozen others are suspected.
          9 September 2020
          By Connexion journalist

Health agency l’Agence R?gionale de Sant? (ARS) for the Nice and Alpes-Maritimes region spoke of a possible “outbreak” for the first time this week, after one case of dengue fever was confirmed on Friday September 4, and another on Monday September 7.

The use of the word “outbreak” signals that at least a dozen other suspected cases are currently being investigated.

The cases are being considered as “native” infections, meaning that the people with a confirmed or suspected case have not travelled to a known dengue risk area within the past 15 days...

Var. Indigenous dengue fever reported in Dutch tourist

A Dutch tourist suffered from dengue fever while staying in the Var. No link has been established with the recent cases diagnosed in Nice.

It was when she returned from vacation that she was diagnosed. According to a press release from the Regional Health Agency, relayed by 20 Minutes , a Dutch tourist was infected with the dengue virus during a stay in La Croix-Valmer, in the Var .

"To prevent the spread of the disease, the neighborhood of the place of residence of the affected person will therefore quickly be mosquito repellent" , continues the organization.

The Regional Health Agency specifies that "no link has been established with the indigenous cases recently identified in Nice" . Two cases were detected in early September in the city of the C?te d'Azur , and a dozen cases were considered suspect.

In the event of sudden onset high fever, muscle or joint pain, eye pain, fatigue or even headaches, the ARS recommends that residents report it and “consult their doctor immediately”

Two cases of dengue in the Gard, probably one indigenous case

              Friday September 18, 2020

ARS Occitanie unveiled this Friday that transmission of the dengue virus is strongly suspected in the Gard, "in a relative of a person returning from an area with active circulation of the virus" . The imported case at the origin of the contamination (returning from a trip to a risk zone) is a relative of the probable indigenous case. Additional analyzes are underway at the national reference center in order to definitively confirm the infection of the indigenous case. The results will be known on September 22.

These two people have been taken care of and their state of health does not cause concern . A case is said to be “indigenous” when a person contracts the disease without having traveled to a contaminated area in the 15 days preceding the onset of symptoms.

Three new "indigenous" cases of dengue detected in Nice

                sept 18, 2020

The focus of contamination is confined to a single district, where five patients in total have been reported.

After the discovery of two cases of indigenous dengue fever in Nice in early September, in the Mantega / Le Piol / Parc Imperial district, at the bottom of avenue de Pessicart, three new cases have been reported in the same area in recent days, said the Regional Health Agency (ARS).

We speak of an indigenous case when the patient contracted the disease in France and has not traveled to a contaminated area in the 15 days preceding the onset of symptoms. Dengue fever is transmitted from person to person through the bite of a mosquito infected with the virus: in metropolitan France, the tiger mosquito.

                  Updated on September 21, 2020

From May 1 to November 30 of each year, Public Health France coordinates the seasonal enhanced surveillance of chikungunya, dengue and Zika in metropolitan France colonized by the mosquito vector, Aedes albopictus , in connection with the ARS concerned (see device monitoring and partners ).
From 1 st May to 18 September 2020 were confirmed:
                  • 370 imported cases of dengue;
                  • 4 imported cases of chikungunya;
                  • 1 case imported from Zika.
A probable indigenous case of dengue in the Gard was reported in early September 2020. Field actions are already in place.

A focus of indigenous cases of dengue has been identified in a district of Nice (Alpes Maritimes) since the end of August 2020. As of September 18, five cases have been confirmed. The epidemiological investigations immediately set up at the end of August 2020 are continuing. Health professionals in the sectors concerned have been made aware of the identification and reporting of possible other cases. Mosquito control operators immediately set up entomological investigations and undertook targeted mosquito control actions.

An indigenous case of dengue was also identified at Croix-Valmer (Var) at the end of August 2020. No link has been established between the indigenous case identified at Croix-Valmer and the outbreak detected in Nice.

A previous indigenous case of dengue , unrelated to that of Nice, had already been identified in the H?rault department on 07/31/2020. The results of the investigations concluded that there were no new indigenous suspected cases among the residents surveyed. It was therefore an isolated case.

                  They are distributed as follows:

After the five cases detected in Nice at the end of the summer, three “new” cases were discovered in Saint-Laurent-du-Var, including a person who works in the town but who lives in Juan-les-Pins, confirmed this Wednesday morning the regional health agency (ARS).

In order to avoid any risk of transmission, which is done through blood for dengue fever, the French blood establishment (EFS) no longer accepts blood donations from people living in Saint-Laurent-du-Var and Juan -les-Pins (06160) where having spent a night in these two towns. And this, until November 26...
