The Hospital of Tropical Disease Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City reported one death of dengue and several serious cases.

One Vietnamese adult dies of dengue
Though this time is not peak season of dengue, there has been a rise in dengue cases in medical clinics compared to the same period last year, according to the Ho Chi Minh City Preventive Medicine Department.
According to the Tropical Disease hospital?s statistic, the hospital admitted around 1,690 dengue patients in January 2019, tripling that in last year. One succumbed to the disease while several have undergone dialysis.
Worse, fatal dengue hemorrhagic fever in adults left serious complications.
The Tropical Disease Hospital?s Infectious Disease Ward was overcrowded with dengue patients even in lobbies. Being treated in the infirmary for four days, 24 year old Nguyen Hoang Duy in the Mekong delta province of Bac Lieu said he returned the hometown during Tet holiday ( the Lunar New Year) and experienced fever and fatigue on February 6. He thought to catch cold; accordingly, he self- treated by buying medication for flu from local drug store.
However, his health condition didn?t abate and he experienced waves of chills; accordingly he arrived in local infirmary for examination and was diagnosed to have dengue. Later he was transferred to the city hospital. His condition is stable now...

HCM City sees strong rise in dengue fever cases

HCM City (VNA) ?The number of dengue fever cases in Ho Chi Minh City in the first seven weeks of 2019 surged by nearly 250 percent over the same period last year, reported the city?s Preventive Medicine Centre.

According to the centre, from January 1 to February 14, as many as 6,733 dengue fever patients were hospitalised, or nearly 1,000 cases each week. One death from dengue fever has been reported in the city.

Since the beginning of this year, the number of dengue-infected cases has increased 249 percent year-on-year...

Dengue fever cases on the rise in Kh?nh H?a

KH?NH H?A ? The number of patients infected with dengue fever has increased considerably in the central coastal province of Kh?nh H?a, Việt Nam News Agency reported.

Since late last year and in the first two months of this year, the province has reported 3,275 cases of dengue fever, increasing 773 per cent compared with the same period last year.

A provincial health inspection found that residents in Di?n Kh?nh District are using open water tanks, which are fertile breeding grounds for mosquitoes and larva.

Health workers sprayed chemicals to kill mosquitoes and instructed people on how to prevent the spread of the disease.

About 322 cases of dengue fever had been reported in all 19 communes in Di?n Kh?nh District...

Dengue, hand-foot and mouth cases climb in southern province of Binh Duong

The Department of Health in the southern province of Binh Duong yesterday said that dengue and hand-foot-and mouth cases are trending upward.
Specifically, in February, the province reported 572 fresh cases of dengue bringing total number of inpatients to 1,418. Worse, it also reported 168 new cases of hand-foot-and mouth bringing total inpatients to 651.
Thuan An , Di An, Tan Uyen and Thu Dau Mot towns have the most cases of dengue...

Vietnam dengue cases up 3-times this year

Dengue fever has killed two and drove 2,163 people into hospitals in the South, up 4 percent compared to last week and by 57 percent compared to same period last year, according to a report of the Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City.

Medical workers warned the disease comes earlier than normally, people should raise their alert because there has been a spike of patients though it just started.
The Ho Chi Minh City ?based Tropical Disease Hospital said that from early June , it has admitted 798 hospitalized dengue patients doubling the same period last year.
Of 151 in-patients, 25 are children and 10 of them are in critical condition and put on ventilators in intensive care rooms.
Head of the Infectious Ward Dr. Nguyen Thanh Phong said that in May, the ward received 20-25 cases a day on average but there has been a rise since June with 70 cases a day...

City sees increase in dengue fever patients

HCM CITY Hospitals in HCM City are seeing more patients with dengue fever one month before the peak season for the disease.

The Hospital for Tropical Diseases has admitted 798 patients with the disease since last month, nearly double compared to the same period last year.

The hospital currently is treating 151 dengue fever patients, including 25 children. Of the total, 10 people are on a ventilator in the hospital?s intensive care room.

Dr Nguyễn Thanh Phong of the hospital said that 20 to 25 patients with dengue fever were hospitalised in May every day. That number has increased to 70 a day...

Dengue fever spreads across country

Hanoi (VNA) ? Vietnam has seen a surge in dengue fever with about 71,000 cases recorded in the first half of 2019, rising more than three-fold year on year, according to the Ministry of Health.

Of the cases, nearly 50,000 were reported in 20 provinces and cities in the southern region, 139 percent higher than in the same period last year. They included six deaths.

Ho Chi Minh City had the biggest number of dengue fever cases, almost 24,770, up 176 percent year on year.

Binh Phuoc province also witnessed a surge of 142 percent in the patient number to more than 1,700. In An Giang, another southern province, the number increased 28 percent to over 1,960.

The Central Highlands province of Dak Lak saw more than 3,200 dengue fever cases in the six months, soaring seven-fold from a year earlier.

Meanwhile, dengue fever has also shown signs of spreading in Hanoi, which reported 820 cases during the reviewed period.

Notably, high numbers of patients have been recorded in western districts of the city, including 150 cases in Ha Dong, 88 in Bac Tu Liem, 73 in Cau Giay, 69 in Dong Da and 65 in Nam Tu Liem...

Dengue, hand-foot-and mouth, measles cases in Hanoi escalating

Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Health Hoang Duc Hanh yesterday said that within one recent month, cases of dengue in the capital city had risen quickly with total weekly cases of 200.

The disease has been recorded in all districts of the city.
From the beginning of the year, Hanoi has reported approximately 1,200 dengue cases without no death. Inpatients make up 10 total infection cases.

Therefore, Deputy President of the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology Duong Thi Hong said that Hanoi will bump into difficulties in disease prevention mission in general and in dengue in particular because of climate change, migration and urbanization.

In related news, the Department of Health in the Mekong delta province of Ca Mau announced the complicated development of dengue, hand-foot-and mouth and measles on the same day.
Specifically, 449 cases of dengue; 1,361 cases of hand-foot-and mouth and 1,295 cases of measles have been reported...

ĐẮK N?NG ? Central Highlands Đắk N?ng Province has recorded the first death from dengue fever, the provincial Department of Health announced on Monday.

Phạm Thanh Mai, 23, from Đăk Song District?s Nam B?nh Commune, was taken to Đăk N?ng general hospital on September 11 in a weak condition.

She was diagnosed with dengue fever and was given intensive treatment but did not recover. She died at around 3.30am the next day, according to the department?s deputy director H? Văn H?ng.

Another boy dies of deadly dengue fever in Dak Lak province

Dengue fever outbreak kills 50 across Vietnam

At least 50 dengue fever deaths have been reported January-October from across Vietnam, nearly five times higher year-on-year.

Dengue cases are surging in localities with 49 deaths

The Department of Preventive Medicine under the Ministry of Health, the number of reported dengue cases has surged to 250,000 and 49 people succumbed to the disease as of November.

Compared to the same period last year, dengue is increasing at a higher rate than any other communicable disease, with 300 percent increase in infection cases; moreover, the number of dengue-related deaths increased 26.
According to the Disease Control Center in Hanoi, the number of reported dengue cases have been over 11,000 dengue as of November 25.
Presently, the downward trend in hospitalized cases has seen this week with 600-700 cases. The disease has been increasing in suburban districts and spread to inner districts.
More elderly people and pregnant women have been infected with dengue including some suffering serious complications including shock, encephalitis, or Myocarditis

Vietnam reports big increase in dengue fever in 2019

According to data from the General Department of Preventive Medicine with the Ministry of Health in VietNam, the number of dengue fever cases reported in 2019 was a significant increase compared to 2018.
