      The number of dengue fever cases in Sindh in October has crossed 3,000 mark, with most of the cases reported in Karachi, a private TV channel reported on Saturday.

      The number of dengue cases in current month has crossed the tally of dengue patients in the province in year 2017 and 2018, Dengue Surveillance Cell (DSC) said in its statement. The disease has claimed 20 lives this year, it added.

      Most of the cases in Sindh were reported in Karachi this year – 2,889 out of a total of 3,114 cases. Overall 6,331 dengue cases have been reported in Sindh this year, of which 5,931 surfaced in Karachi, the surveillance cell reported.

      Prevention and Control Program for Dengue (PCPD) Sindh Spokesman said at least 165 more dengue fever cases have been reported throughout Karachi city in 24 hours, taking the toll to 5,983 since January 1, 2019. He said as many as 184 new dengue fever cases emerged across the Sindh province in a day, out of which 165 were detected in Karachi and 19 in other districts...

        SHANGLA: A 17-year-old boy died of dengue fever in Maira area of Bisham tehsil, his family claimed on Monday.

        Saeedullah, uncle of the victim, Atta-ur-Rehman of Koz Bara village of Maira union council, said his nephew expired at the Saidu Teaching Hospital in Swat. He said the victim was diagnosed with dengue a week ago and was under treatment at a local hospital, but after his condition did not improve, he was shifted to Swat, where he died.

            KARACHI: Dengue virus continues to wreak havoc on the people of Sindh as nearly 310 new cases were reported in the past two days in Karachi and other parts of the province, a local news outlet reported on Friday.

            According to Dengue Surveillance Cell (DSC), dengue resulted in over 23 in Karachi in October while the count of dengue cases in the city has reached 4,294.

            The overall count of dengue patients has reached 7,808 in the province, health officials claimed in a recently published report...

            According to health sources, the number of dengue-related deaths in Rawalpindi has reached 45.

            RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – In the unfortunate dengue epidemic, 34-year-old woman, Naila, and 40-year-old resident of Rawalpindi, Nadeem Akhtar, succumbed to their illness at DHQ Hospital and left this world.

            According to health sources, the number of dengue-related deaths in Rawalpindi has reached 45 so far. The administration is looking helpless as an additional 84 patients have been diagnosed with the dengue virus in the last 24 hours.

            Dengue fever was diagnosed in 34 patients from Potohar Town while 21 patients from different areas of the municipal corporation fell victim to viral fever.

            From Islamabad, 10 more dengue patients were shifted to Rawalpindi hospitals...

                  KARACHI: Three women and a man died of dengue fever on Tuesday as the death toll owing to the viral disease rose to 25 across Sindh this year, setting off alarm bells in the quarters concerned, as the province has so far registered more than 8,700 dengue cases this year, officials and sources said.

                  The fresh deaths were reported in private hospitals where 82-year-old resident of DHA Sarfaraz Hussain, 35-year-old Afshan Asif of Gulberg, 57-year-old Gulnar Begum of Gulbahar and Saeeda Khatoon, 50, of North Karachi died during treatment.

                  “With the fresh numbers, the total count of deaths due to dengue fever stands at 25 this year,” said a source citing recently-compiled data of the provincial authorities. “A total of 8,707 cases have been registered this year...

                    Dengue kills 68 people in 10 months: report

                    RAWALPINDI: The Punjab government has released a detailed report on the critical situation caused by dengue epidemic that inflicted Rawalpindi during the 10 months of 2019.

                    The report presents statistics for the period between January 1 and October 31.

                    According to the report, a copy of which is available with The Express Tribune, a total of 68 people lost their lives to the dengue haemorrhagic fever.

                    It said that at least 10,744 citizens contracted the dengue virus up till end of October 2019. The epidemic went unchecked even after the provincial government had imposed an emergency over the situation.

                        KARACHI: Two more dengue patients died of mosquito-borne dengue fever in Karachi, taking the death toll to 29 in the metropolis, ARY News reported on Monday.

                        A 55-year-old woman, identified as Zahida Kausar was resident of the Federal B. Area and was under treatment at a private hospital of Karachi. She died to the dengue virus during treatment. A seventh-month-old child, resident of Al-Noor society, also lost the battle against dengue fever.

                          Rana Safdar, a senior official at the National Institute of Health (NIH), told AFP news agency on Wednesday the figure is a huge leap from the previous record of 27,000 infections in 2011.

                            Dengue death toll hits 32 as two more children lose their lives
                            Two more children died due to complications resulting from dengue fever at the National Institute of Child Health (NICH), while an 11-year-old boy from Chachro Tehsil of Tharparkar died due to full-blown rabies at the same health facility in Karachi, health officials said on Thursday.

                            “Moosa Irfan, an infant of three months, was brought to the NICH yesterday. He tested positive for dengue fever and died today during treatment,” NICH Director Prof Dr Jamal Raza told The News. He said the little boy was brought from the Korangi area of the city for treatment.

                            Similarly, a three-year-old boy, Taimur Hashim, a resident of the Bilal Colony area in Korangi, also died due to dengue fever and its complications at the NICH, said Raza, adding that the boy had expired a couple of days ago due to dengue and other viral illnesses. He said dengue cases are on the rise across the city, adding that since the NICH only treats children, a lot of young patients are being brought in with mosquito-borne illnesses, including dengue and malaria, while kids with water-borne diseases are also being received in large numbers from different areas.

                              KARACHI: At least 229 more dengue fever cases were detected in Karachi city during the last 24-hours, taking the reported cases’ toll to 10,289 since the 1st January 2019.

                              Spokesman Prevention and Control Program for Dengue (PCPD) Sindh, while talking to PPI, informed that as many as 247 new dengue fever cases emerged across the Sindh province in a day, out of the 229 were detected in Karachi and 18 in other districts.
