    55 more test positive for dengue in Pindi

    RAWALPINDI:
    Despite rigorous efforts of the district government, the influx of dengue patients in the three allied hospitals of Rawalpindi continued on Sunday, with as many as 125 new patients seeking treatment.

    According to health officials, over the past 24-hours, the three allied hospitals including Benazir Bhutto General Hospital (BBH), Holy Family Hospital (HFH) and District headquarters (DHQ) Hospital, some 55 patients have tested positive for the virus while 70 suspected dengue patients are awaiting results of laboratory blood tests.

    Of those who tested positive, 23 patients had been brought to HFH, 22 to BBH and 10 to DHQ.

    During the current season, some 863 dengue suspected patients have been brought to the allied hospitals. Of these, so far 331 patients have tested positive for dengue. However, 674 suspected dengue patients have been discharged so far after being provided with treatment...

      Two brothers of the Gulbahar Colony area died of dengue fever on Thursday, while their third brother has been admitted in hospital with symptoms of the viral disease.

                Two women die of dengue fever in Rawalpindi hospitals

                RAWALPINDI: Two women died of dengue fever at the Holy Family Hospital (HFH) and the District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) Hospital on Saturday as 154 more patients landed in three government hospitals in the city.

                Parveen Gulzar, 65, a resident of Lunda Bazaar, was brought to the DHQ hospital in a critical condition on Sept 11. She had also spent two days in the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) with a cardiac problem but was later referred to the DHQ hospital for the treatment of the dengue fever.

                Sabeena Bibi, 50, a resident of Murree Road, was brought to the HFH in a critical condition on Sept 12. She was put on a ventilator on Friday and died on Saturday morning.

                  (MENAFN - Tribal News Network) PESHAWAR: Dengue fever, a mosquito-borne disease, has killed young newspaper vendor in Peshawar district on Monday.

                  According to details, Sheikh Mohammed's resident Tilah Mohammed had complained of fever some days ago. He arrived at Lady Reading Hospital, the province's largest medical centre, where, after preliminary tests, he was diagnosed with a dengue mosquito bite.

                  Later, He was admitted to the Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar for four consecutive days but despite the efforts of the doctors, he could not survive and died in the hospital. The late Tilah Muhammad belonged to a poor family who used to come to the newspaper market early in the morning to earn his living by selling newspapers in his particular area. He left behind two sons, five daughters and a widow.

                    Sixteen people have died of dengue in the country this year, according to the latest field data from the Emergency Operations Centre in Islamabad.

                    The most recent death was reported in Islamabad on Monday.

                    On September 16, 194 cases, the maximum number of cases, were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including 88 from Peshawar. In Punjab, 95 cases were reported, including 82 in Rawalpindi, and 81 have been reported in Islamabad. Of the 36 cases reported in Sindh, 35 are from Karachi.


                    The surveillance report has declared the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi the worst affected with 163 cases recorded in the last 24 hours.

                      (MENAFN - Tribal News Network) PESHAWAR: In an alarming development, two more dengue patients died in Peshawar on Saturday, while the disease continues to spread rapidly in most parts of KP.

                      The two girls who died of dengue fever belonged to Bahadur Killi area of Peshawar. They were identified as 17-year-old Nabeela and 13-year-old Remsha. Both were laid to rest in their village graveyard on Saturday. The Health Department did not confirm the death of girls due to dengue fever.

                              Dengue Cases on the Rise in Pakistan's Punjab Province; 218 Tested Positive in a Day
                              Last week, a 16-year-old boy, Aryan, had succumbed to dengue fever in the same Allied Hospital. The hospital is currently treating 18 dengue patients.

                              As many as 218 new patients have been tested positive with dengue in Pakistan’s Punjab province on Saturday.

                              A number of vector-borne diseases were reported from Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan and Lahore. As per the official figures, the total number of people tested positive of dengue in Punjab so far this year has rose to a whopping 3,211.

                              A spokesperson from the health department in Lahore said every possible treatment facility is being provided to the dengue patients and work on destroying dengue larvae has been intensified, The Dawn reported.

                              The official said of the total 3,211 dengue patients, 2,552 were discharged from the government and private hospitals. Of the patients who are still hospitalised, six were under treatment in the intensive care units (ICUs) while others were reported to be out of danger...

                                2,777 cases of dengue reported in capital, NHS ministry data finds

                                ISLAMABAD: There have been 2,777 cases of dengue this season in the capital, according to a report from the Ministry of National Health Services (NHS).

                                According to the report, which is available with Dawn, seven Islamabad residents have died of dengue. There have been more than 16,000 cases of dengue reported across the country.

                                The ministry is hoping that dengue cases will fall along with the temperature, but efforts are also being made to ensure every patient can be given a bed in hospitals...
