The first patient with autochthonous dengue in Catalonia is a young man from Barcelona
The first patient with autochthonous dengue in Catalonia is a young man residing in the north of the Barcelon?s region, which is progressing favorably and was diagnosed on November 9, after suffering a "sudden" headache, malaise, high fever and a rash on the face that spread to the body, chest and extremities.
In a press conference, the Secretary of Public Health, Joan Guix, explained that, although Catalonia has registered many cases of dengue, they had always been infected patients during a trip to an endemic tropical zone and this is the first case of contagion after sting of a tiger mosquito in Catalonia.

The deputy director general of Public Health Surveillance, Mireia Jan?, said that it was "possible and expected" that Catalonia would experience an autochthonous case after Spain had already registered five so far this year, in Murcia and C?diz.
