    Dengue claims 18 lives in June, public urged to take precautions

    More than 2690 cases of dengue, resulting in 18 deaths, were reported nationwide, except in Chin State, in the first week of June, according to the Department of Public Health.

    The rate of dengue may increase in June and July, so people should be aware the risk of the disease, warned the department.

    Dr Zaw Lin, the department?s dengue programme manager, said that the incidence of the disease is likely to increase yearly, based on their records, but noted the death rate is exhibiting a downward trend...

    ...Looking at the rate of dengue in the country, the incidence this year is higher than 2016 but lower than 2017 and 2015, the department said...

    ...This year, Yangon Region has recorded the highest rate, with 705 cases and six deaths, and Tanintharyi, Ayeyarwaddy and Mon regions were also high, with 516, 373 and 267 cases respectively, according to a department statement on June 2...

    The wet season in Burma is when dengue fever strikes communities. The Karen State public health department has diagnosed 436 people dengue fever as of July 14, 2018.

    Among the recorded 436 cases, 306 were from Hpa-an, 35 from Kawkareik, 39 from Hlaingbwe, 20 from Myawady, 8 from Kyainseikkyi, 22 from Hpapun and 6 from Thandaung Townships.

      Myanmar: 950 people infected with dengue fever in 7 months

      Yangon ? The outbreak of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) has infected 950 people with eight deaths in Myanmar?s Sagaing region in the last seven months, according to the Health Department on Wednesday.

      During the period, residents in Yinmabin, Kale, Pale, Monywa and Salingyi towns in the region were mostly affected by the fever.

      The DHF, a mosquito-borne disease, is mostly common in rainy season.
      Overcrowding, lack of sanitation and unhygienic water storage are blamed for causing the infectious disease...

        Dengue fever kills four in Pyay

        More than 600 people have been infected with dengue fever in Pyay Township in Bago region (West), according to the hospital?s figures.

        Until August this year, four out of 626 hospitalized patients died of dengue fever. Last year, there were 669 hospitalized patients and five deaths...

          2,670 people get dengue fever in Ayeyawady Region this year

          The number of people who are suffering dengue fever reached 2,670 in Ayeyawady Region this year and nine were dead.
          Dengue fever broke out in all 26 townships in Ayeyawady Region with the most in Hinthada, Pathein ad Pyarpon.

          ?Until September 1 of this year, nine people were dead. 2,670 people get dengue fever, mostly in Hinthada. 518 people get dengue fever. The second most is Pathein, followed by Pyarpon and Lattbuta. Dengue fever broke out in all 26 townships.
