    Tainan reports year's first indigenous dengue fever case

    Taipei, Sept. 11 (CNA) A 78-year-old woman has become the first reported indigenous dengue fever case in Tainan this year, health authorities in the southern city announced Tuesday.

    The woman living in Tainan's South District sought medical treatment and underwent screening for dengue Sunday after feeling unwell that day and coming down with a fever. She was hospitalized the following day, said Chen Yi (陳怡), head of the city government's dengue fever prevention and control center.

    The woman was later confirmed to have dengue virus type 4 (DENV-4), Chen said...

      5 new dengue fever cases reported in Taiwan

      Taipei, Sept. 12 (CNA) The number of confirmed cases of indigenous dengue fever in Taiwan had increased to 112 as of Tuesday, with five new cases reported the previous day, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) said in its latest report on the mosquito-borne disease.

      The five new cases included three in Taichung, the most severely hit area in the country with a total of 62 indigenous cases so far this year. The other two new cases were in Changhua County, the CDC data showed.

      Two of the three patients in Taichung were at a hospital in the city's Tanzi District, one a nurse and the other a foreign caregiver, according to the CDC...

        Three new cases of dengue fever were flagged in Taichung City, Taiwan, on Wednesday. Two of them involved a Taiwanese nurse and an Indonesian carer working in the same hospital, and where outbreak investigations have been launched.

        The Taichung City Government announced on September 12 that the two new cases happened in the main block of Buddhist Tzu Chi General Hospital Taichung Branch in Tanzi District. A 40-year-old member of the nursing staff and a 29-year-old Indonesian private carer of an 90-year-old in-patient both reportedly suffered from fever from September 4 and September 8 respectively the Liberty Times reported...

          Yilan reports second case of imported dengue fever

          Taipei, Sept. 19 (CNA) Yilan County confirmed Wednesday the county's second case of imported dengue fever this year, in a Filipino fisherman who had recently returned to Taiwan following a trip to his home country, according to the county's Public Health Bureau.

          The fisherman was found upon his arrival at the airport Saturday to have a high fever and was asked to give a blood sample, which tested positive for the disease Monday, the bureau said...

            Taipei, Sept. 26 (CNA) Four new indigenous cases of dengue fever were reported Wednesday in Taiwan, bringing the total number so far this year to 134, according the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

            Two of the new infections were in Taichung, the most severely hit area in the country with a total of 72 indigenous dengue fever cases so far this year, the CDC said in a statement.

              Taipei, Oct. 30 (CNA) Taichung in central Taiwan reported 12 new cases of indigenous dengue fever last week, bringing the total number in the municipality so far this year to 101, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) confirmed Tuesday.

                Kaohsiung reports one new indigenous dengue fever case: CDC

                Taipei, Nov. 14 (CNA) Kaohsiung has reported a case of indigenous dengue fever, making it the first dengue virus type 4 (DENV-4) the southern city has reported this year, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) said Wednesday.

                The patient, a man in his 70s living in the city's Chienjin District, sought treatment Monday after feeling unwell and coming down with a fever and sore throat the day before...

                ...The number of indigenous dengue fever cases around Taiwan has hit 176 this year -- 107 in Taichung, 43 in New Taipei, 12 in Kaohsiung, eight in Changhua County, two each in Taipei and Chiayi County, and one each in Taoyuan and Tainan, according to CDC data.

                  Taiwan sees spike in imported dengue fever cases from Cambodia: CDC

                  Taipei, Dec. 21 (CNA) The number of imported dengue fever cases in Taiwan that originated in Cambodia has increased sharply this year to 66 compared with eight in 2017, a senior official at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) said Friday.

                  Cambodia has also been the largest source of imported dengue fever cases in Taiwan this year, said CDC Deputy Director-General Chuang Jen-hsiang (莊人祥).

                  Citing CDC data valid as of Dec. 20, Chuang said the total number of imported dengue fever cases in Taiwan this year was 330, with the three major sources being Cambodia (66), Vietnam (62) and the Philippines (56).

                  Last year the number of cases that originated in Vietnam was 104 and in the Philippines 39, Chuang said...
