    Dengue fever cases rise by 52

    KUALA LUMPUR: The number of dengue fever cases for the period of Feb 18 to 24 rose by 52 compared to the previous week, says health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

    He said a total of 1,224 cases were recorded for the period compared with 1,172 in the previous week.

    However, he said the cumulative total for recorded dengue cases declined by 5,441 to 9,072 cases compared with 14,513 in the corresponding period last year.

    ?As for fatalities due to dengue fever, a total of 20 deaths were recorded for the period, compared with 40 deaths recorded in 2017, a drop of 20 cases (50%),? he said in a statement yesterday...

    Dengue: Sarawak records big drop in cases

    SIBU: The number of dengue cases in the state has dropped by 70.4 per cent ? thanks to concerted efforts by all quarters in the fight against the disease.

    According to state Health Department director Dr Jamilah Hashim, 107 cases were reported between Jan 1 and March 11 this year in Sarawak, down from 361 cases recorded in the same period last year...

      10 dengue deaths in Sabah until March

      KUNAK, Sabah: Sabah recorded 958 cases of dengue, including 10 deaths, this year up to March 31, according to the state Health Department.

      Its director, Datuk Dr Christina Rundi, said almost all the districts registered an increase in the number of cases in the three-month period.

      She said via Whatsapp, when contacted, that the department had initiated control activities and set up special wards for those suspected of dengue to be monitored from time to time...

        DENGUE cases in the southwest district of Penang have skyrocketed by 231% this year.

        There were 427 cases reported from January to June as compared to 129 cases in the same time period last year.

        Southwest district Health Deparment director Dr Mohamad Iqbal said the increase in dengue cases was extremely alarming.

        ?We have declared Taman Melati and Taman Sri Nibong in Sungai Nibong as epidemic zones because seven of the dengue victims live there,? he said...

          32,435 dengue cases recorded in Jan-June 2018

          KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 32,435 cases of dengue fever with 53 deaths were reported nationwide from January to June this year, which is a decrease of 34.8 per cent or 17,291 cases and 110 deaths reported in the same period last year.

          Health Minister Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said Selangor recorded the highest number with 18,249 cases and 14 deaths, followed by Federal Territories (Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya) with 2,776 cases and six deaths, and Johor with 2,747 cases and seven deaths, in the same period.

          ?Malaysia has succeeded in reducing the number of dengue cases and deaths for two consecutive years, namely by 16 per cent in cases and 29 per cent in deaths in 2016, and by 17 per cent in cases and 25 per cent in deaths in 2017...

            1,791 dengue cases recorded in Sabah up to July 21

            KOTA KINABALU: A total of 1,791 dengue cases were recorded in Sabah up to July 21 this year, an increase of 666 cases compared to the 1,125 cases reported in the corresponding period of last year.

            Sabah Health Director, Datuk Dr Christina Rundi said that out of the 26 districts in the state, 12 showed an increase in dengue cases compared to last year.

            ?Four districts with a high number of cases were Kota Kinabalu with 491 cases, Tawau (357), Kunak (202) and Lahad Datu (178),? she told Bernama, here yesterday...

              3,488 dengue cases in KL, Putrajaya so far this year

              KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 3,488 dengue cases with six deaths were recorded in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya from January until July 21, said KL and Putrajaya Health director Dr Zainudin Abdul Wahab.

              He said the number was an increase of an average of 195 cases weekly over the past 10 weeks.

              Dr Zainudin said the highest case was recorded last week with 278 cases compared to 224 cases the previous week, an increase of 54 cases (24.1 per cent)...

              SIBU: Sarawak recorded a drop of 55.9 per cent or 372 cases in the number of dengue cases until July 21 this year ? thanks to collaborative efforts from all quarters in fighting the menace.

              According to the state Health Department press statement Friday, 293 cases were reported between January and July 21 this year, compared to 665 cases during the same period last year.

              There was also a reduction in the number of fatalities due to dengue with one death registered in Sarawak this year ? down 66.7 per cent (two deaths) from three deaths recorded during the corresponding period in 2017...

                Health officer: 944 dengue cases reported in Batu, Kepong and Segambut since January

                KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 12 ― A total of 944 dengue cases with one death were reported in Batu, Kepong and Segambut parliamentary constituencies, from January to August 4.

                Kepong District Health Officer Dr Fuad Hashim said the figure was an increase of an average of 60 to 70 cases weekly over the last few weeks.

                ?Usually, the number of cases in these three Parliamentary constituencies average between 30 to 40, but the figure had risen over the past few weeks...

                  THERE is a 62% decline in dengue fatalities in Selangor up to Aug 25 this year compared to the same period last year.

                  State Health, Welfare, Women Empowerment and Family committee chairman Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud said the number of cases also went down to 27,453 compared to 35,343 in the corresponding period last year.

                  ?There was a 31% decrease in the number of dengue cases. We are looking at changing the attitude of the people to ensure the number continues to go down,? she said during the Selangor state assembly sitting yesterday...

                    PUTRAJAYA: The Health Ministry reported a total of 51,307 dengue cases in the country throughout the year until yesterday.

                    Based on the data, Selangor recorded the highest number of cases compared to other states with 29,205 cases.

                    This is followed by Kuala Lumpur (4,704 cases), Johor (3,939), Penang (3,464), Sabah (2,247) and Perak (2,021).

                    At the same time, a total of 29 deaths were registered between Jan 1 and Sept 1...

                      Sarawak registers fewer dengue cases than last year

                      SIBU: The decline in reported dengue cases in Sarawak can be attributed to concerted efforts from all quarters in curbing the spread of the disease.

                      Between Jan 1 and Nov 3 this year, Sarawak recorded 586 dengue cases, versus 857 cases registered during the same period last year.

                      This represented a 31.6 per cent decline ? or down by 271 cases, said Sarawak Federal Secretary Datuk Mansor Man.

                      ?There?s also a reduction in the number of death cases (due to dengue) in Sarawak this year (between Jan 1 and Nov 3) by 75 per cent ? down to three cases, from four deaths reported during the same period in 2017,? he told reporters after launching ?Gotong-Royong Mega Sarawak 2.0? at Farley Commercial Centre here yesterday.

                      In giving the breakdown of cases by division, Mansor said Kuching had 133 cases, followed by Sibu with 88 cases, Samarahan (69), Betong (59), Kapit (50), Miri (41), Serian (39), Sarikei (38), Sri Aman (33), Bintulu (15), Limbang (12) and Mukah (nine)...

                        Pahang records 809 dengue cases this year

                        KUANTAN: A total of 809 dengue cases were recorded in Pahang between January and Nov 3, with Kuantan contributed the highest number with 479 cases. Data obtained from Health Department showed Temerloh recorded 98 cases, followed by Maran (38 cases), Jerantut (35), Bera (34), Pekan (32), Bentong (26), Lipis (23), Rompin (23), Raub (20) and one case reported in Cameron Highlands. Three deaths were recorded, one each in Kuantan, Jerantut and Lipis...
