    Pangasinan dengue cases up by 300%

    LINGAYEN, Pangasinan ? The Provincial Health Office (PHO) has confirmed that the number of dengue cases in Pangasinan increased by 300 percent from January 1 to February 5 this year compared to the number of cases reported for the same period in 2017.

    Dr. Anna Ma. Teresa de Guzman, provincial health officer, revealed that for the first 36 days of 2018, her office already registered 534 cases of dengue with two deaths, adding that at least 200 of these cases were registered only last week.

    She added that for the same period last year, PHO registered only 140 dengue cases.

    Among the areas placed under tight watch by PHO for their high incidence of dengue are Urdaneta City which registered 82; Binmaley, 40; Sta. Barbara, 37; Lingayen, 30; Binalonan, 26; Pozorrubio, 24; Mangaldan, 29; Asingan, 22; and Bayambang, 20...

    DOH reports 11,000 new dengue cases

    Amid the controversy surrounding the dengue vaccine Dengvaxia, the Department of Health (DOH) on Thursday disclosed that about 11,000 dengue cases had been reported in the first six weeks of the year.

    According to the DOH Dengue Disease Surveillance Report, a total of 10,980 dengue cases were reported from Jan. 1 to Feb. 10.

    A total of 51 deaths had also been recorded for 2018, the DOH report added.

    But the number of dengue cases was 41.38 percent lower than the 18,731 cases reported within the same period last year, the report said...

      THE Department of Health in the Cordillera region reported a 75-percent increase in dengue cases in the first quarter of this year. DOH Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit Nurse 5 Jeannie Anne Austria said they documented 582 cases this quarter compared to 332 cases in the same period in 2017...

      ...Kalinga had the highest number of cases with 178, followed by Benguet with 130, Baguio City with 71, Apayao with 59, Abra with 43, Ifugao with 16, and Mountain Province with 10.

        Dengue cases down by 32% in Jan-Feb 2018

        MANILA ?The Department of Health (DOH) has reported that the number of dengue cases decreased in the first eight weeks of 2018 compared to the same period last year.

        ?The dengue incidence has in fact gone down,? DOH Secretary Francisco Duque III said when reporters asked about the current number of dengue cases in the country...

        ...Based on the DOH?s Dengue Disease Surveillance Report for the period of January 1 to February 24, there have been 15,599 dengue cases recorded.

        ?This is 32.56% lower compared to the same time period last year?s (23,131) cases,? the report said.

        The report also said that there were 74 CFR (0.47%) reported for the same period.

        The report also indicated that the current CFR was lower compared to the same period last year which were recorded at 140 deaths or 0.61%...

          The Cavite provincial health office has declared an outbreak of dengue in seven towns and two cities following an increase in the number of cases of the mosquito-borne disease during the first quarter of this year.


          Dr. Nelson Soriano, provincial epidemiologist, said health workers recorded 1,499 dengue cases between Jan. 1 and March 11, representing an increase of 64 percent from the 914 cases recorded during the same period last year.

          This number, he said, exceeded what medical experts called ?alert threshold,? computed against the population and based on the lowest number of dengue occurrence recorded over nine years, prompting health officials to declare an outbreak...

            CAR dengue cases increase by 75%

            BAGUIO CITY: Health authorities in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) reported a 75 percent increase in dengue fever cases for the first nine weeks of the year compared to the same period last year.

            Geeny Anne Austria, a nurse at the Department of Health-CAR?s regional epidemiology and surveillance unit, said there were 582 dengue fever cases recorded by the different health facilities in the region compared to last year?s 332 reported cases.

            Kalinga had 178 cases, Benguet with 130, Baguio City?71, Apayao?59, Abra?43, Ifugao?16, Mountain Province?10 and non-CAR provinces ?75.

            Austria said there were two dengue-related deaths in the region this year?one from CAR and one from non-CAR provinces...

              Dengue cases in Negros Occidental up by 17%

              DENGUE cases in Negros Occidental have increased by 17 percent from January to this month this year compared to the same period last year. Based on the data of the Provincial Health Office, 650 cases were reported this year while 554 was recorded in the same period last year. The number of deaths remained three this year. Those are from Bago City, E.B. Magalona, and Cadiz City. The areas having the most number of cases this year are the cities of Sagay, Bago, Victorias, and Silay...

                Dengue cases up 182% in Pangasinan

                THE Pangasinan Provincial Health Office (PHO) has urged Pangasinenses to take precautionary measures against dengue virus, as it recorded high number of dengue cases in the first quarter of this year.

                Dr. Anna Theresa De Guzman, provincial health officer, in an interview said the PHO recorded 982 dengue cases from January 1 to April 2 this year, 182 percent higher from the 348 cases during the same period last year. She said the PHO already noted four mortality cases in 2018 from three mortality cases last year...

                  THE Public Attorney?s Office (PAO) on Monday claimed that the number of people who died after being inoculated with the Dengvaxia anti-dengue vaccine has risen to 57.

                  ?We already have 57 and many pending cases for autopsy scheduled for this week until next week,? PAO forensic expert Dr. Erwin Erfe told The Manila Times in a text message.

                  According to Erfe, at least four cases from Cebu and Albay were slated for forensic examination this week.

                  ?We will provide further details about the victims after we have performed the examination,? he said.

                  PAO said that 54 of the 57 victims were children. In addition, Quezon City police officer Vicente Arugay, Camp Crame utility worker John Rey Pintor and physician Kendrick Gotoc have died...

                    Dengue fever cases rise 79% this year in Cavite

                    TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite ? The Provincial Health Office?s (PHO) Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (PESU) disclosed on Tuesday that the number of dengue fever cases in Cavite province reached 2,403 in the first semester of the year, up 79 percent from 1,343 cases in the same period last year.

                    In a report shared by the team of physicians from PESU, headed by Dr. Nelson C. Soriano, of the total number of cases reported this year, 72% (or 1,726 cases) were hospitalized and 29 others were laboratory confirmed. There were 12 reported deaths.

                    As in the past, PESU clarified to the public that ?the recent increase in the number of dengue cases has nothing to do with Dengvaxia or the dengue vaccine.?

                    Report said that Bacoor City ranks first with the highest number of cases (302, or 13 percent), with the cities of General Trias and Imus, following at 2nd and 3rd with 299 and 270 cases, respectively...

                    THE total dengue deaths in Negros Occidental from January to this month have increased to 11 after another fatality was reported in San Enrique.

                    Louie Fernandez of Negros Occidental Health Surveillance System said that the number of dengue cases has also increased by 47 percent, from 964 in the same period last year to 1,419 this year...

                      DOH: Dengue kills 9, infects 973 others in Bicol in 1st half of 2018

                      Nine residents have died, while almost 1,000 have been infected by dengue in the Bicol Region, according to the Department of Health (DOH).

                      A report on GMA News TV Live on Saturday said that based on records from the DOH regional office in Bicol, six of the nine were residents from Camarines Sur, two from Albay and one from Catanduanes.

                      Meanwhile, 973 have been infected with the disease in the region from January 1 up to June 16, 2018, which is five percent higher compared to the same period last year...

                          ROXAS City ? Two children died due to dengue in Capiz as of June 28 this year, according to the Provincial Health Office (PHO).

                          The casualties include a 4-year-old boy in Barangay Banica, Roxas City and a 9-year-old girl in Barangay Poblacion Norte, Ivisan town, the PHO added.

                          From January to June 28, a total of 222 dengue cases were recorded in Capiz. Nineteen of these cases are patients from other provinces who seek treatment in Capiz hospitals...
