A dengue epidemic has been declared in Wallis and Futuna

The public broadcaster said the health service acted after registering seven cases in the past week which proves that the virus has now established itself in the community.

It said the new infections were concentrated in the south of Wallis...

First death in Wallis dengue outbreak

The latest dengue outbreak in Wallis and Futuna has claimed its first life.

The public broadcaster said an eight-year-old girl died after her condition deteriorated and she had been flown to New Caledonia's medical centre.

A dengue epidemic was declared in Wallis and Futuna a year ago.

Since then 222 infections have been reported and 23 people needed hospital care...
