    Medical team sent to dengue-hit Chitwan for study

    Kathmandu, October 5

    Epidemiology and Disease Control Division of the Department of Health Services said it has sent a medical team to Chitwan to study the latest development related to the spread of dengue fever in the district.

    Another team of health workers comprising a doctor and experts has been kept in reserve for mobilisation in the district if the condition worsens, officials said.

    ?We have sent a medical team to Chitwan today,? Dr Bhim Sapkota, public health officer at the EDCD, said. He informed that EDCD has kept a medical team on 24 hours standby to deploy in the district if the situation worsens...

    ...He informed that 66 people of the district had tested positive for dengue till yesterday. Hundreds of patients suffering from high fever are undergoing treatment in various health facilities of the district...

          JHAPA, Oct 27: An expert on public health has attributed the spread of dengue fever to haphazard disposal of garbage.

          According to Madhu Sudan Koirala, chief of District Public Health Office (DPHO), Jhapa, unregulated disposal of garbage has been abetting the rise in number of dengue fever cases.

          Initially, the maximum of the dengue cases was recorded in Chitwan district. But the situation has changed now and the epidemic is steadily on the rise in Jhapa district since last week...

            CHITWAN: The spread of scrub typhus and dengue continues despite decreasing temperature in Chitwan district...

            ...According to Ram KC, a health professional of District Public Health Office, Chitwan, 397 people out of 1,222 were found to have infected with scrub typhus. Similarly, 412 out of 1,622 were infected with dengue until now this year.

            Majority of dengue patients, 312 among the total 412 dengue patients, in Chitwan district are the residents of Ratnanagar Municipality.

            Until now, five deaths caused by scrub typhus in Chitwan district have been reported. However, no casualties related to dengue have been reported...

              Nov 8, 2016- The dengue outbreak in Chitwan is slowly getting under control, according the District Public Health Office (DPHO).

              Ram Kumar KC, the DPHO vector control supervisor, said the rate of incidence of the disease has started going down compared to the previous three months...The DPHO, Chitwan, stated that so far 519 people have been affected by dengue in the district in the last three months.

                  LUMBINI, Nov 16: A total of 36 people in Rupandehi have been infected with dengue virus as of Tuesday, said the District Public Health Office. Butwal city has outnumbered other cities and villages in the district housing dengue patients with 20 infected with dengue virus.

                  The number of people contracting the disease may go up this year, said vector control inspector at the DPHO Kedar Nath Shah...

                      1,473 dengue cases in 30 districts in five months: Report

                      Dec 8, 2016- A total of 1,473 people from 30 districts have been infected with dengue virus in over past five months, almost 11 times more than the number last year, according to a report prepared by the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD) under the Department of Health Services.

                      Last year, a total of 134 people from 31 districts were found to have been infected with the disease. The reported cases in 2014-15 were 785 and 302 in 2013-14.
                      Chitwan district has topped the list with the number of dengue cases reported to be 675, according to the EDCD report...
