    More dengue cases but no report of zika virus

    KUALA LUMPUR: Dengue fever is on the rise again nationwide with an increase of 2,017 cases reported between June 26 and July 2 (Week 26) as compared to 1,777 cases the previous week.

    "The cumulative cases of dengue fever from January up to July 2 stood at 57,782 cases compared to 59,365 cases during the corresponding period last year, a decline of 2.7 per cent (1,583 cases)," he said in a statement on Saturday.

    Dr Noor Hisham said 10 dengue fatalities were reported in Week 26, making the total number of deaths at 132 compared to 165 deaths during the corresponding period last year.

      Drop in dengue case between January to June: Health Ministry

      PETALING JAYA: The Health Ministry's effort to combat dengue together with the Rakyat seemed to be paying off as there were only 65,618 dengue cases with 147 deaths reported between January 1 and July 30 this year as compared with 70,680 cases and 190 deaths during the same period last year.

      In a statement issued today, the ministry advised the Rakyat not to let their guard down in terms of keeping their houses and surroundings clean.

        Terengganu records increase in dengue cases

        KUALA NERUS, Aug 18 ? The Terengganu Health Department recorded 1,632 cases of dengue fever as of Tuesday, an increase of 141.1 per cent or 677 cases compared with the same period last year.

        Its director, Dr Mohammad Omar said although the number was still higher than last year?s, it was a relief because there was no critical dengue infection as what had occurred at the beginning of this year.

        ?There?s only one outbreak that is around Masjid Abdul Kadir near Gong Tok Nasek here which has recorded 13 dengue cases so far...

          KUALA LUMPUR: Dengue cases in Malaysia are the decline, with 89,243 cases recorded as of October 29 compared to 100,665 cases in the corresponding period last year.
          Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam, speaking in Parliament today, said the cumulative cases indicated an 11.3 per cent (11,422) drop.

          "Meanwhile, the cumulative dengue death toll as of October 29 stands at 202 compared to 277 deaths in the corresponding period last year which indicates a 27.1 per cent drop (75 deaths)," said the Segamat MP in response to a question by PKR's Sungai Petani MP Datuk Johari Abdul.

          The downward trend in dengue cases, Dr Subramaniam said, could be attributed to the integrated efforts and actions of ministries, agencies and the community at large in preventing dengue...

            A total of 92,891 dengue cases with 214 deaths was recorded nationwide from January to November this year, compared with 106,757 cases and 293 deaths for the same period last year.

            Deputy Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Hilmi Yahaya said the situation has trended downward 13% or 13,866 dengue cases.

            ?Selangor is a major contributor to dengue cases at 51.3% or 47,257 cases of the overall number of cases.?...

            LABUAN: Dengue cases are on the rise in the duty-free-island here with 13 cases reported so far this year compared with only three cases in the same period last year.

            Labuan Health Department director Dr Ismuni Bohari said although no death was reported, the surge in dengue cases prompted the need to remain vigilant and continue efforts to curb the aedes mosquito from breeding...

              Sibu records 1,550 dengue cases as of Dec 3 this year

              SIBU: Sibu Division recorded a cumulative 1,550 dengue cases as of Dec 3 this year, up 49.9 per cent from 1,034 cases in the same period last year.

              Sibu Division Anti-Dengue Management Committee chairman Hii Chang Kee said from the 1,550 cases reported this year, Sibu District accounted for 1,415 cases, whereas Selangau had 17 and Kanowit 118.

              Hii, who is Sibu Resident, said during the corresponding period in 2015, Sibu District recorded 971 cases, while Selangau had 14 cases and Kanowit 48.

              There were five deaths due to dengue fever this year...

                Dengue cases reported nationwide declined by 16% in 2016 compared to the previous year, said Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

                With concerted efforts from the ministry, related agencies and the public in practising initiatives such as ?search and destroy? of dengue breeding grounds, he was confident the number of dengue cases could also be reduced this year.

                ?In the first week of this year, 1,663 cases of dengue fever were reported compared to 1,329 cases the previous week.

                ?However the number of cases reported in the first week of 2017 has dropped by 50% compared to the same week in 2016 at 3,337 cases,? he said in a statement from Putrajaya today...
