    Crimean-Congo fever confirmed in Masindi

    Medical officials have confirmed the outbreak of Crimean Congo fever in Masindi District in Western Uganda.
    The disease has been confirmed in Kikingura village in Bwijanga Sub County.

    "There is a health worker who died at the end of December 2018 and the blood sample tested positive for the haemorrhagic fever," said Mr Emmanuel Ainebyoona, the senior public relations officer at the Ministry of Health.

    He said the deceased was given a supervised burial by medical officers to ensure that mourners are not exposed to any possible infection...

    The ministry of Health has confirmed a case of Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever and warned of a possible outbreak in the eastern district of Jinja.

    ?A 32-year-old male, who passed on at Entebbe General Hospital in Wakiso, tested positive with Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever. He was buried in Jinja,? said ministry of Health spokesperson Emmanuel Ainebyoona.

    The deceased was a builder and was staying in Bendegere village, Kasenyi parish-Katabi sub county in Wakiso district. His body was transported by relatives from Entebbe hospital and buried in Butagaya, Nakakulwe village, in Jinja on April 12...

      Suspected Crimean ? Congo Hemorrhagic fever cases increase in Jinja

      Health Authorities in Jinja District have said that the number of suspected cases of the Congo Crimean Hemorrhagic fever has increased in the area.

      The Jinja District Health Officer, Dr Peter Dyogo Nantamu the number of the suspected cases had by this morning risen from 11 to 13.

      These, he says are admitted in a temporary isolation unit at Butagaya Health Center III in Butagaya Sub County.

      This follows the death of a 32 year old resident of Kasenyi parish, Katabi Sub county in Wakiso district on April 11 after developing symptoms similar to those of the Cremian fever.

      Health officials say majority of the patients are relatives of the deceased...

        The ministry?s spokesperson, Emmanuel Ayinebyona said blood samples from close family of the deceased examined at Uganda Virus Research Institute tested negative.


        Officials from the Ministry of Health (MOH) have said that there are no new cases of Crimean Congo Haemorrhagic fever recorded, ever since the onset of the outbreak last Thursday.

        According to the statement issued by Dr. Henry Mwebesa, the acting director general health services at Ministry of Health there was only one case of a 32-year-old man who died of Crimean fever.

        The deceased was a resident of Bendegere Village, Kasenyi Parish-Katabi sub county in Wakiso district. On Thursday his body was buried in Batagaya Village, Jinja...
