    MULTAN: A suspected Congo patient, admitted to Nishtar Medical Institute (NMI) a few days back, has been tested positive, said an official source here on Friday.

    The source said that Masoo Khan, 30, son of Gulay Khan, hailed from Balochistan. He was admitted to NMI with fever and headache four days back.

    The report of the blood samples, sent to the National Institute of Health, Islamabad, showed that Masoo Khan was suffering from Congo fever, the source added.

    Congo virus claims another life in Quetta

    QUETTA ? A patient admitted on suspicion of Congo virus in Fatima Jinnah Chest Hospital Quetta passed away Saturday noon raising concerns about the growth of deadly virus in Balochistan.

    According to reports, Shah Jehan, who hailed from Loralai?s Duki area, was brought to the hospital two days ago and was under treatment.

    Dr Naseer, the in-charge of Fatima Jinnah Chest Hospital?s isolation ward, said that despite the medical attention, his condition had remained critical.

    Dr Naseer added that no blood samples could be withdrawn from the patient before his death, emphasizing on how critical his condition had become.

    The congo virus, if it remains unnoticed, could prove to be fatal. In Pakistan, overall 11 cases of this virus have been reported in 2017, of which four patients recovered and two and one died from the confirmed and suspected virus, respectively. Five people were discharged with no diagnosis of the illness...

      NIH confirms Congo virus in three K-P residents

      PESHAWAR: Of the five people from Bubbal Khail village who died last week of a mysterious disease, three of them were suffering from Congo virus, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa health officials confirmed on Tuesday.

      The cause of death for others from the district has yet to be ascertained.

      The K-P health department said that three people were carrying a strain of the Congo virus. Of those who died, two were from Lakki Marwat while one was from Karak.

          QUETTA: Another case of Congo virus surfaced in Quetta after it was confirmed that an eight-year-old girl was infected with it on Tuesday.

          According to details, the Kirani Road resident was brought to Fatima Jinnah Hospital in a serious condition on June 29...

          ...Two other suspected Congo virus patients are also being admitted to the hospital...

          Dr Naseer disclosed that 35 suspected Congo virus patients have been brought to the hospital so far this year of whom 10 were confirmed with the virus. Six of the patients have died of whom two were confirmed to be affected with the virus, he added.

            Contingency plan designed to deal with rising Congo fever cases

            ISLAMABAD: In the wake of recent surge in Crimean Congo Haemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) cases, a contingency plan has been designed for prevention and control of the disease, especially during Eid-ul-Azha because of exposure to tick infected animals and their massive movement.

            An important meeting was held comprising representatives of the National Institute of Health (NIH) with Ministry of Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) here on Tuesday, aimed at developing a strategy to curtail the fever.

              2 die of Congo virus; several affected

              Two people including a woman died of Crimean-Congo Haemorrhagic Fever (CCHF), commonly known as Congo virus here on Saturday which several others were hospitalised. According to health department sources, Bacha Khan son of Sultan Yasinzai, hailing from Chamzai, affected of Congo virus expired while shifted to Quetta for treatment. Another woman in the locality also fell prey to the fatal Congo virus. Several people were hospitalised after found affected with the dreadful virus...

                Congo fever claims life of 35-year-old Quetta native

                A 35-year-old man hailing from Quetta died of the Congo Crimean Haemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) at a private hospital in Karachi on Wednesday, while another Congo fever patient ? a teenager from Quetta ? was admitted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre?s intensive care unit in critical condition on Thursday, officials of the Sindh Health Department told The News.

                As per the officials, four people brought from Balochistan ? all residents of Quetta?s Satellite Town ? for treatment of Congo virus have died at different hospitals in Karachi over the past six months.

                  Congo fever toll mounts to six as another death reported

                  Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever (CCHF) has claimed another life in Karachi this month, bringing the total deaths due to the tick-borne viral disease to six in the country this year.

                  Fifty-two-year-old Syed Ghafoor Shah, a resident of Mujahid Colony in Orangi Town, was brought to the Liaquat National Hospital (LNH) on the night of September 10 in an unstable condition, the health facility?s spokesman, Anjum Rizvi, told The News on Thursday.

                    Another man contracts Congo fever in city

                    Another man in Karachi has contracted Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever (CCHF) and been admitted to the isolation ward of the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) in critical condition.

                    JPMC Executive Director Dr Seemin Jamali said 21-year-old Hashim Khan, a resident of Frontier Colony, was brought to the hospital with fever, headache and symptoms of a viral infection.

                    He was tested for dengue while his blood sample was also sent to the Aga Khan University Hospital to test for CCHF, following which it was confirmed that he was infected with the lethal tick-borne viral disease, added Dr Seemin.

                    So far four patients from Satellite Town in Quetta and one from Karachi have died in the city?s hospitals because of Congo fever, while a young man infected with the virus was fortunate enough to survive the largely lethal disease after being treated at the JPMC last month...

                      KARAK: A young man has fallen prey to Congo virus, raising the death toll from the disease to seven in the Karak district, locals said.

                      The latest victim, Abdullah of Sarki Lawagher area, died in the Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar after suffering from the virus for more than a week, according to relatives.
