A Windsor, Ont., hospital is dealing with an unusually high number of cases of C. difficile infection, it said on Tuesday.
David Musyj, CEO at Windsor Regional Hospital, said staff are treating eleven patients with C. diff, nearly double the normal caseload at this time of year. Musyj said most of the patients contracted the superbug before coming to the hospital. All the infected patients were in their late sixties and early seventies, and were on antibiotics for a prolonged period of time, making them more susceptible to infection, he said...
