    The traditional ruler of Okum Kingdom in Obubra LGA of Cross River State, HRH Ovan Robert has said the lack of clean water in his community and many parts of the state is responsible for the increasing deaths from diseases in the state.

    He spoke to journalists in his palace, Monday, urging the government to intervene to save the lives of his people.

    Over the weekend, there were reports of over 60 deaths from Cholera in the community while more than 200 have been hospitalised...

    Fresh Cholera outbreak hits Ebonyi, 22 killed

    Member representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Hon. Chinedu Ogah, weekend called on the Ebonyi state government to assist in eradicating cholera outbreak in inyimagu, Akuhufu, and Ochokwu communities in Ikwo local government area of the state.

    The outbreak, Blueprint learnt, has claimed 22 lives. 11 persons were said to have died in Akuhufu while 6 persons, 3 adults, and 3 children died in Ochokwu communities respectively.

    This is coming barely two months Akpoha community in Afikpo North LGA and Ishielu LGA witnessed the same outbreak with some deaths recorded...

      Nigeria records 429 cholera cases, 17 deaths

      The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention said the country has recorded a total of 429 suspected cases of cholera, including 17 deaths, so far in 2023.

      The NCDC disclosed this in its latest Cholera situation weekly epidemiological report for week four (January 2-29) posted on its official website.

      The report revealed that the cases were reported from 11 states across 24 Local Government Areas. ..

        Two persons have reportedly died in a Cholera outbreak at Ofenekpa Inyimagu, Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi.

        There has been a cholera outbreak in some communities in Ikwo in the last one month with over 19 persons killed.

        The member representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Chinedu Ogah intervened in the outbreak which has stopped the disease.

          A total of 922 cholera cases have so far been recorded in Nigeria and 32 of them succumbed to the disease in 2023.

          This is according to the latest situation report obtained from the World Health Organisation.

          The Case Fatality Rate is at 3.5 per cent as of March 5, 2023.

          The WHO noted that the data include the suspected positive rapid diagnostic tests and laboratory-confirmed cholera cases.

                  Cholera outbreak hits Ogun, four feared dead

                  Four people have reportedly died from a cholera outbreak in Ijebu North Local Government Area of Ogun State over the weekend, PUNCH Newspapers have learnt

                  Speaking with our Correspondent, a source who pleaded anonymity and resident within the Local Government confirmed this unfortunate incident

                  Pressed further to mention the communities affected, the source declined but said “I can tell you that we have four casualties already and efforts are already ongoing to deal with this emergency, that is the much I can say for now”

                  However, in a statement signed by Dr Tomi Coker, the Special Adviser to Gov Dapo Abiodun on health and made available to journalists on Sunday evening, the state government alerted the residents of the state to the outbreak of Cholera in the local government.

                  The statement says “There is an Outbreak of Cholera (Aarun òní gbá méjì) in the Ijebu North Local Government area of Ogun State. Cholera is known to occur during raining seasons and may also be associated with poor environment and personal hygiene.​..
