    New cases of cholera reported in the North region, in January 2019

    (Business in Cameroon) - The Cameroonian health ministry (Minsante) announced the report of new cases of cholera in the north region of the country this January. The region is the only one still reporting cases of the disease, new cases reported during the period from January 11 to 18, Minsante said.

    The total of suspected cases since 2018 peaked at 997; 279 in the Far North, 639 in the North, 72 in the Central region, and 7 in the Littoral. Confirmed cases are 81 ; 70 in the North, 3 in the Far North, 4 in the Littoral and 4 in the Central region. Meanwhile, confirmed deaths reached 58, 40 of which were observed in the northern region, 17 in the far north and 1 in the central region...

    At least two people have died of cholera in Cameroon's North region, barely four months after the government declared the country free of the disease, an official of the Ministry of Public Health said on April 10.

    According to Dr Arabo Saidou, the region's representative of the ministry, the first cases of the epidemic were identified on March 27 and so far 19 suspected cases have been registered...

      A cholera epidemic, particularly in northern Cameroon, has already claimed the loves of 48 people, according to figures released by the Public Health ministry on Monday.According to the ministry, since the outbreak of the disease last February, there have been 775 reported and confirmed cases, reachig what it called ?alarming epidemiological proportions.?

      The northern region, which has been particularly blighted by the epidemic for almost a year, has a fatality rate of 6.2 percent.

      The neighbouring Far North region is also affected by the disease, raising fears of its spread with the onset of rains in that part of the country...

        YAOUNDE, July 11 (Xinhua) -- The death toll from a cholera outbreak in Cameroon's northern regions has risen to 93 from 48 confirmed on Wednesday, Cameroon's Minister of Public Health, Manaouda Malachie, said on Thursday.

        Malachie in a statement said about 1,000 people have been diagnosed with the disease since late 2018. The North and Far North regions are the hardest hit.
