      At least three pupils have lost their lives and 27 others hospitalized in a fresh cholera outbreak at Tsangaya Islamic school, Madaki, in Gombe State. The State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Kennedy Ishaya, confirmed the outbreak to newsmen in Gombe on Sunday during an inspection visit to Madaki Primary Health Care facility where the victims are hospitalized.

        KATSINA ? No fewer than 11 persons were said to have been killed by cholera outbreak which struck and affected six local government areas of Katsina State.

        Information reliably gathered revealed that five out of the 11 persons died in Funtua LG while the remaining six died in Kusada LG and as a result of the outbreak.

          Cholera outbreak: Adamawa records 1,564 cases in 2018

          The Director of Disease Control Department (DCD), Amos Ujulu, Adamawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency (ASPHCDA), says the state has recorded 1,564 cases of cholera this year.

          Ujulu disclosed this during his presentation on the recent outbreak of cholera to the State Executive Council Meeting in Yola.

          He said that over 100 communities were affected by the outbreak of cholera in the northern part of the state.

          He listed the affected local government areas as Maiha, Mubi North and Mubi South, adding that the disease further spread to some parts of Cameroon bordering Nigeria.

          According to him, the state had established a cholera emergency response secretariat in Maiha for quick response to its outbreak in the area...

            Nearly 10,000 cases suspected to be cholera this year alone

            Only 275 have been confirmed as cholera in laboratory testing and 141 people have died so far across 92 local government areas in 21 states.

            This time last year, only 669 cases suspected to be cholera were reported, and 17 people had died across 25 local government areas in 13 states.

            In the first week of July alone, laboratory testing showed 22 infections positive for cholera out of a total 744 reported cases in 11 states.

            Fourteen people have died from cholera in the first week of July alone, epidemiological records from the NCDC show.

            Both the NCDC and World Health Organisation have warned of the epidemic growing wider and further with rains, if it isn?t contained quickly...

              Cholera kills 186, spreads to 16 states -NCDC

              The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) yesterday released data showing that cholera cases were still being reported from eight states of the federation, saying 16,008 suspected cases including 186 deaths had been reported from 16 states since the beginning of the year.

              According to a statement signed by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the NCDC, Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu, the eight states where cholera was still being reported include Adamawa, Bauchi, Kano, Katsina, Zamfara, Kogi, Plateau and Kaduna...

                Cholera Outbreak: Eleven Die, 47 Hospitalized In Kano

                Eleven persons have died, while over forty seven have been hospitalized in Bebeji local government area of Kano state, following a suspected outbreak of Cholera.

                Three villages which were reportedly affected include; Hayin Madaci, Kuki and Falli Sarki.

                A Youth Leader in the area, Ubale Dawud Abubakar said the villages have being battling the suspected cholera outbreak for over a week now.

                He said they have reported case to the authorities, but awaiting response.

                Musa Abdullahi who is a father of six children, said the eleventh person that died as a result of the disease was buried on Sunday evening ,

                He said about 47 persons are being treated at homes and some patent medicine stores around as the villages lack clinic or hospital.

                  Cholera kills five persons in Abuja suburb

                  The outbreak has now been brought under control and residents of the community have been advised to constantly keep their environment clean.

                  The district head of Ushafa, Alhaji Muhammad Baba, who confirmed to TVC News that not less than 5 people lost their lives in the wake of the outbreak, said the disease swept through the community with a population of about 10,000 people forcing a sanitation exercise to become necessary due to the number of cases recorded...

                    8 killed, 20 hospitalised in suspected cholera outbreak in Kano

                    Barely one week after about eleven persons died of a suspected cholera outbreak in Bebeji Local government area of Kano State, another similar outbreak has been recorded in Gwarzo Local Government Area of the State, claiming about eight lives with 20 others hospitalised.

                    An eyewitness, Ibrahim Sale, said on Saturday that apart from six deaths recorded in about four villages, his neighbour?s daughter, Khadija aged 5, died on Thursday afternoon after receiving over ten drips following persistent stooling and vomiting.

                    In separate interviews, Gwarzo Local Government Council Chairman, Bashir Kutama, and District Head of Gwarzo, Alhaji Shehu Kabiru Bayero, confirmed the suspected cholera outbreak.

                    The duo said that eight persons had died of the disease and the council had procured medicine to treat the patients.

                    When newsmen visited the General Hospital Gwarzo, it was discovered that most of the patients exhibited symptoms peculiar to cholera...

                      Cholera: Abuja records seven deaths in four communities ? Official

                      The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has said that seven deaths have been recorded from the outbreak of cholera in four communities in the territory.

                      Humphrey Okoroukwu, the Director of Public Health in the Health and Human Services Secretariat, FCTA, confirmed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.

                      Mr Okoroukwu said two deaths were recorded at Kubwa village, one at Sauka, another two deaths at Mpape and two at Ushafa.

                      However, he said that the outbreak in Kwali and Kuje Local Area Councils did not claim any life, while the situation in the two area councils and those at Sauka, Mpape and Kubwa villages had been curtailed...

                        Kano State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Kabiru Ibrahim Getso on Tuesday, confirmed that the state has recorded 28 deaths in the state between the month of January and July this year as a result of 400 cases of acute watery diarrhea recorded in the state with 50 confirmed cases of cholera across 33 Local Government Areas of the State.

                        According to him, the state Government through his ministry has instituted several control measures to combat the outbreak which is currently experienced in 17 states of the federation, Kano inclusive...

                          • The conflict-affected north-eastern states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe have recorded 3 790 suspected cases, including 49 deaths.                               About 18 people are feared dead in Charanchi Local Government Area of Katsina State, while 24 others are currently hospitalised following the outbreak of cholera in the council. The current casualty brings the figure of the dead to 47.

                              The outbreak, which had recently claimed 29 lives and about 181 cases, were recorded in Funtua, Kusada, Kaita, Ingawa, Katsina and Kankia Local Government Areas of the state.

                                Cholera outbreak kills 14 in Borno

                                Borno State Government on Wednesday confirmed fourteen persons dead following an outbreak of cholera.

                                The state commissioner for health Haruna Mshelia made the disclosure during a press conference in Maiduguri.
