    Cholera Returns to Nigeria With A Deadly Balance

    Abuja, Mar 5 (Prensa Latina) Two deaths from cholera were reported today in the Nigerian state of Bauchi (northeast), just over two months after an outbreak that caused 61 deaths last year.

    The executive secretary of the Agency for the Development of Primary Health Care of Bauchi, Adamu Gamawa, confirmed the death during the weekend of two of the 20 people suffering from cholera in the metropolis, although he assured that all measures were taken to prevent the spread of the disease.

    The State Rapid Response Team has begun surveillance in the 20 local government areas in the state...

    Cholera outbreak: Borno govt confirms 3 deaths

    The Borno State government has confirmed the death of three persons as a result of cholera disease outbreak in the state.

    Commissioner of Health in the state, Dr Haruna Mshelia, disclosed this during an interview with newsmen in Maiduguri on Thursday.

    According to him, 693 persons have been diagnosed with the disease in villages around the Lake Chad area of the state.

    Mshelia noted that outbreak first occurred six weeks ago in Baga, Doro Baga, Bundiram and Kukawa villages while 77 samples were collected, out of which 69 confirmed suspicion that it was cholera.

    He, however, said the state government has set up two treatment centres in Baga and Kukawa respectively to attend to all reported cases...

      Cholera kills Bauchi college student, three hospitalised

      There was panic at the College of Education, Kangere, Bauchi State, on Wednesday, following an outbreak of cholera which killed one student.

      Commissioner for Health in the state, Dr. Zuwaira Hassan, confirmed to newsmen in a telephone interview, on Thursday, that 19 cases of Cholera was recorded at the College, of which 15 students are well and have been discharged.

      Hassan disclosed that three students are currently on admission at the Cholera Treatment Centre in Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, (ATBUTH), Bauchi, due to the outbreak, while one person- a 22 year male- has died.

      Public Relations Officer of the College, Bala Baban Kawu, confirmed the identity of the deceased in a telephone interview with our correspondent...

        (MENAFN - Trend News Agency ) Nine deaths have been recorded following an outbreak of cholera in Nigeria's northeastern state of Bauchi, local authorities confirmed on Friday, Xinhua reported.

        A total of 324 cases of cholera have been confirmed so far across five districts in the state, local officials said.

        The State Commissioner for Health Zuwaira Hassan told Xinhua that a cholera isolation center has been set up to care for the patients.

        According to Hassan, the facility is now active, with at least 26 patients admitted...

          A total 559 people in Bauchi have been hospitalized since an outbreak of cholera in February, says the international medical humanitarian organization Doctors Without Borders (MSF).

          At least 243 patients were admitted to a 70-bed cholera treatment centre the group set up at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital since February 19 in response to the outbreak.

          Some 183 have been treated and discharged from the centre; three died from cholera...

            Damaturu ? At least six people have been killed and 62 others hospitalised in an outbreak of cholera in Yobe state.

            the General Hospital Gashua in Bade local government area is being used to treat peatients.

              A cholera outbreak in Gashua, Yobe, has claimed 13 lives out of 160 cases reported in the last six days, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.
              A source at the Gashua General Hospital told NAN that five deaths were first recorded while eight lives were later lost to the disease.
              The source said that the victims were brought in from Sabon Gari, Katuzu, Zango, Lawan Musa and Sarkin Hausawa, which were among the areas worst affected by the outbreak.
              Meanwhile, the State Government has despatched a Rapid Response Team to contain the outbreak and spread of the disease...

                  The Borno state Commissioner for Health, Dr Haruna Mshelia, has said that no fewer than three persons have died in fresh cholera outbreak in Kukawa Local Government area of the state.

                  Mshelia made the disclosure when the Director General, World Health Organization (WHO), Dr Tedros Ghebrayesus, visited the WHO?s Emergency and Response Centre on Friday in Maiduguri.

                    The Medical Director of Mubi General Hospital in Adamawa State, Dr. Ezra Sakawa, Wednesday confirmed that 12 people are dead as a result of a cholera outbreak and over 100 others might have been infected by the disease.

                    He said so far, 12 people have lost their lives to the disease and many more are infected, adding that if something is not done fast many would not survive the epidemic.

                      The Adamawa Ministry of Health has confirmed that the cases of cholera outbreak in Mubi have risen to 434 with 13 deaths.
                      The Information Officer of the Ministry, Abubakar Muhammed, confirmed the number, via a statement he issued on Sunday in Yola.
                      The statement reads: ?Total number of cases reported from Mubi North and Mubi South Local Government Areas as at 26th May, 2018 stand at 434 cases with 13 deaths.

                          The government of Yobe state in northern Nigeria has announced the end of the cholera outbreak that has ravished the state since March 2018.

                          According to the state government, the cholera outbreak has ended across the state. During the outbreak, a total of 404 cases were reported in 5 local government areas. The outbreak also claimed a total of 16 deaths.

                          The outbreak was first reported in Gashua town, Bade Local Government Areaon March 28, 2018. According to the government, the outbreak?s case fatality ratio was 3.7%.

                          In his remark, Dr. Bello Muhammad Kawuwa, Yobe state Commissioner for Health and Human Services, said the announcement of the end of the outbreak was made since no new case was reported in the last 21 days...
