        Three children admitted as cholera hits Naivasha

        Three minors have been admitted with cholera in Naivasha following an outbreak at Kihoto estate near the lake.

        Medics are concerned that the numbers could rise due to heavy rains that have resulted in flooding almost daily.

        In Kihoto estate, some shallow latrines are located near wells.

        For years, the estate that is home to hundreds of flower farm workers has recorded cholera cases that have been linked to the proximity of the wells to the latrines.

        Dr Angeline Ithondeka, the superintendent in charged of Naivasha sub-county hospital, said the children were in serious but stable condition...

            Four hospitalised after cholera outbreak in Busia

            Four people have been hospitalised following cholera outbreak in Busia County.

            County Health Executive Phaustine Barasa on Wednesday confirmed that two of the patients had been treated at Port Victoria Sub-County Hospital and discharged. She added that two more were treated at Rukala Health Centre in Bunyala sub-county.

            ?No deaths or new admissions have been reported, while those in the wards have stabilised,? said Mrs Barasa.

            She added that active surveillance of the disease was on-going...

                25 admitted to Kiambu hospitals with Cholera

                At least 25 people are admitted to two Kiambu hospitals following a cholera outbreak in Githurai, Kiamumbi and Riabai areas.

                Some 22 patients are at Kiambu Level Five Hospital while three were admitted to Thika Level Five Hospital on Monday evening.

                35 CASES

                The patients, according to Thika Level Five medical superintendent Patrick Nyaga, include a mother and her three children.

                Dr Nyaga said the mother and her two children came from Githurai 44 in Nairobi County.

                  Health officials in Nairobi have issued a cholera alert following the death of two people from symptoms associated with cholera in Korogocho, Nairobi county.

                  A 13-year-old girl passed away while being treated at Kiambu hospital on Tuesday while a woman said she lost her grandchild, a standard seven pupil at Mission Hope school.

                  A number of Korogocho slum dwellers have reported illness characterised by a running stomach and vomiting, a situation they blamed on poor drainage in the area.

                  Nairobi Health CEC Hitan Majevda said cases of cholera were reported in Githunguri but denied reports of deaths from the disease....

                    One dead, six hospitalised in Yatta cholera outbreak

                    One person died while six other cases of cholera were confirmed in an outbreak in in Yatta, Machakos County, on Tuesday.

                    The confirmations were at Matuu Level Four Hospital where the patients were admitted in an isolation room.
