    Health officials working for relief agency UNICEF report that cholera cases have been found in two areas outside Juba, in addition to the cases within the city.

    On Sunday the Ministry of Health reported that a cumulative of 30 suspected cholera cases have been admitted in Juba Teaching Hospital and 13 cases tested positive so far.

    Today the UN children?s agency puts the number higher, saying 36 suspected cholera cases have been reported at Juba Teaching Hospital as of yesterday, with two deaths.

    ?There have also been cholera cases in Duk Island in Bor, where 32 cases and six deaths have been reported, and in Terekeka, where four cases and three deaths have been reported,? the UN agency stated.

    UNICEF?s Cholera Task Force has been sending water and sanitation supplies to seven major hubs in the country in preparation for a cholera out

    Cholera Outbreaks Confirmed in South Sudan

    South Sudan's Ministry of Health said test results Thursday confirmed at least six deaths from cholera outbreaks in three areas of the country. More than 30 suspected cases have been reported in the capital, Juba, alone.

    Outbreaks were confirmed in Juba, Terekeka state and Duk Island in Jonglei state. As of Wednesday, the nationwide total of cholera cases was 141, according to UNICEF.

        Cholera cases reported in South Sudan?s Nimule town

            Sudan?s health ministry denies cholera outbreak in Blue Nile

            Bahr Idris Abu Garda, Sudan?s National Minister of Health has denied reports that there has been an outbreak of cholera in Blue Nile State.

            Bahr told Radio Tamazuj on Thursday that diarrhoea outbreaks are common in Sudan, saying the government will contain the health situation in the state. The official further said the diarrhoea outbreak was recorded initially in River Nile and Kassala States, but the ministry managed to control it.

            The minister pointed out that the number of people who have become infected was 188, but it dropped to 36 and later to 18 cases, adding about 15 people died so far in Al-Roseires town...

              Sudan: 'Watery Diarrhoea' Outbreak Leaves 57 Dead - Sudan Health Ministry

              Khartoum / Sennar / Kassala ? The Sudanese Ministry of Health issued an update about the 'acute watery diarrhoea' outbreak in the country on Saturday. 57 people died from the disease. 3,084 are affected in eastern Sudan's Blue Nile, Sennar, and Kassala, and in the northern Nile River state.

              However, a civil initiative to combat the epidemic spoke of cholera. In a statement on Sunday, the medics who set up the initiative reported the death of 475 people in the period between mid-August and 22 September. 10,215 people are reportedly affected.

              The disease spread in Blue Nile, Sennar, Kassala, El Gedaref in eastern Sudan, El Gezira and Khartoum in central Sudan, and Nile River in the north.

              New cases

              Medical sources informed Radio Dabanga from Karkouj town in Sennar that the town's hospital admitted nine new acute diarrhoea cases on Sunday, which brought the total number of people afflicted with the disease in the hospital to 26...

                Death toll from cholera outbreak in S. Sudan rises to 31

                  Cholera hits Unity state?s Payinjiar county, kills 2

                  November 7, 2016 (NYAL) ? Two children have died and over 30 people admitted following a Cholera outbreak in South Sudan?s Unity state?s Nyal and Ganyliel payams of Payinjiar county, health officials said.

                  The county health director, Stephen Gatliah described the situation on ground as ?worrying?, owing to the lack of Cholera treatment kits.

                  Of the suspected cases, he said, 21 people tested positive in Nyal and 11 were confirmed to have Cholera in neighbouring Ganyliel.

                  Gatliah warned of possibilities of the disease escalating in coming weeks, due to the complete absence of Cholera treatment kits...

                        Situation Update

                        Cholera outbreaks have been confirmed in 9 (32%) of 28 states countrywide. The affected states include Imatong, Eastern Lakes, Jubek, Terekeka, Jonglei, Western Bieh, Northern Liech, Southern Liech; and Eastern Nile (Table 1 and Figure 1.0). Suspect cholera cases have been reported in Mayendit, Panyijiar, and Ayod (Table 4). Cumulatively 128 (36 %) of the samples tested positive for Vibrio Cholerae inaba in the National Public Health Laboratory as of 17 November 2016 (13 confirmed in week 46) (Table 3). Jubek state has recorded 1990 cholera cases including 14 deaths (CFR 0.71 %). A total of 4 new cholera cases were reported in Jubek State during week 46 of 2016 (Table 1 and Figure 1.1).

                        During the week, Bentiu PoC reported 24 cases, the highest when compared to other outbreak areas. Most of the cases in Bentiu PoC have been reported in children under 2 years 143 (55%) while children under 10 years constitute 196 (75%) of the cases (Annex 1). Most 260 (94%) of the cases in Bentiu PoC have been reported in individuals that did not receive oral cholera vaccine. Most cases have been reported from sectors 2, 3, and 5 (Annex 1). Response in Bentiu is coordinated by a taskforce and the case-centered approach has been adopted to interrupt transmission.
