ELEVEN new cholera cases have been recorded in Lusaka?s Kanyama area, the Ministry of Health has confirmed.
According to an update by the Ministry of Health, 29 people were attended to the centre on Sunday afternoon, out of which 11 were laboratory-confirmed cholera cases.
And only nine people earlier hospitalised are still receiving treatment at the cholera centre that has been set up in Kanyama...

LUSAKA Province has now recorded 44 cases of cholera in Kanyama, Bauleni, Kabanana and Chilenje townships.
Provincial medical officer Kennedy Malama said in an interview yesterday that currently, four of the cholera patients are admitted to Kanyama cholera treatment centre.

Health Minister Joseph Kasonde says as of March 8th, 2016, the number of Cholera cases stood at 1-hundred and 4 with Lusaka district recording 84 cases and Chibombo district 20 cases.
Dr Kasonde says the cases currently admitted at the Kanyama Cholera Treatment Centre are mostly coming from Bauleni compound.
The Minister says this is why the Lusaka District Medical Office is opening a treatment centre in Bauleni so that all cases from there are treated locally...

LUSAKA, March 16 (Xinhua) -- Cholera cases in Lusaka, the Zambian capital, have shot to about 226 despite assurances by authorities that the waterborne disease is under control, state broadcaster reported on Wednesday.
Cholera broke out last month in one of the sprawling shanty compounds in the Zambian capital with 20 cases but the waterborne disease has spread to other parts of the city.
