Kwango: 90 cholera deaths recorded in three health zones

Kenge, July 26, 2026 (ACP).- Ninety (90) deaths out of 635 reported cases of cholera have been recorded in the province of Kwango, in the southwest of the Democratic Republic of Congo, the head of the Provincial Health Division (DPS) announced on Saturday in Kenge, during the presentation of the epidemiological situation.

“ The cholera epidemic in Kwango has already caused 90 deaths out of 635 cases reported to date. As of July 24, 2026, there have been 44 deaths out of 118 cases recorded in the Boko health zone; 14 deaths out of 110 cases in the Kasongo-Lunda health zone and 32 deaths out of 407 cases recorded in the Popo Kabaka health zone, ” said Dr. Jacques Kimfuta, who is also the coordinator of the Provincial Coordination Committee for the “One Health ” approach (CPCUS).

Furthermore, the most affected health areas are those located on the banks of the Kwango River.

These include the Pont Kwango and Unissons health areas in the Boko Health Zone, six health areas in Kasongo-Lunda, the most affected being Zina-Bunketi and Dibulu.
