“ In 2023, the DRC reported 311,500 cases of measles including 5,799 deaths with a case fatality rate of 1.86%,” we read in this report .

The most affected provinces are, among others, Kasaï, North and South Kivu, Lomami, Tshopo, Sankuru, Kwilu, Maï-Ndombe, Equateur, Bas-Uélé, Maniema and Mongala.

Unlike in 2023, the source noted that in 2022, the country recorded 146,359 cases of measles including 1,846 cases of death, with a case fatality rate of 1.3%. In 2023, the WHO announced that the DRC was among the 10 countries in the world where vaccination coverage against measles is low.
