    Measles alert for Gold Coast and Tweed region

    GOLD Coast Health has issued a measles alert after a person with the highly contagious disease visited areas across the southeast and northern NSW.

    Members of the public who visited listed locations during the relevant times should make sure they are protected against measles and seek medical advice if they develop symptoms.

    The person visited Elevation Church at Tweed Heads and The Strand shopping centre at Coolangatta on Sunday, January 5 and Coomera Westfield shopping centre and Movie World on Monday, January 6.

    They also visited Bunnings at Oxenford and the food court at Harbour Town shopping centre on Tuesday, January 7 and Coles at Pimpama, Noosa and the Sunshine Coast, including Double Island Point lighthouse, on Wednesday, January 8...


    Measles alert issued for Geelong

    Geelong locals are advised to be on the lookout for symptoms of Measles, after an infectious teenager visited public sites in Geelong.

    Victoria's Chief Health Officer, Dr. Brett Sutton, said the person visited the Waurn Ponds Shopping Centre between 12pm and 1pm last Tuesday, 7 January.

    The teenager also visited the Soul Pattinson Chemist on Myers Street between 7:15pm and 8:30pm last Thursday, 9 January.

    Anyone exposed to the viral disease could experience an onset of symptoms up until Saturday 25 January or Monday 27 January.

    The case is the first to be reported in Victoria this year, and the Teenager is now at home recovering...

    New measles warning issued for Perth

    THE Department of Health has issued an alert following a confirmed measles case in a person who visited several Perth shopping centres last week.

    WA Health Department warned people without measles immunity to remain vigilant for symptoms if they were at the following venues:

    Coventry Village on Tuesday, January 7 between 12.00pm (midday) and 2.00pm
    Greenwood Kingsley Super Deli on Tuesday, January 7 between 4.30pm and 5.30pm
    Barbaro Bros Butchers Greenwood on Tuesday, January 7 between 4.30pm and 5.30pm
    Dianella Plaza on Wednesday, January 8 between 12.15pm and 1.30pm...

      THERE has been another reported measles case in WA, with a Perth gym advising members a child attended its creche with the illness.

      Surge Fitness Clarkson sent an email to members just after 5pm this evening.

      The email said the child last attended the creche on Saturday, January 18...

        Another measles case has been reported in Perth, with a warning issued to residents who may have come into contact with the carrier of the disease over the past week.

        The Health Department has warned people who have not been vaccinated against measles to be on high alert if they visited several locations across Perth between January 22 and January 28, including Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (January 22-24), Woolworths on Reynolds Road, Mt Pleasant (January 26 between 11-11.45am) and Coffee Anatomy in Nedlands (January 24).

        The other places visited by the carrier of the highly contagious disease are Coffee Biz in Nedlands (January 23), Spices supermarket in Nedlands (January 25), Terry White Chemist on Monash Avenue, Nedlands (January 28 between 10-10.45am and Hollywood Newsagency on Hampden Road, Nedlands...

          Three confirmed measles cases in Brisbane, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast

          After a horror measles outbreak in 2019, Queensland Health has confirmed three cases in the state so far this year, with one infected patient each in Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast.

          In the latest case, Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service public health unit director Dr Virginia McLaughlin said on Friday an infected woman was likely exposed to the disease during her travels in Asia.
          Last year was a horror year for measles in Queensland and health

          The infected patient visited Mooloolaba Wharf on Thursday, January 23, prompting a warning for those who were there from 7pm-9pm that night to watch out for symptoms...

          ...There have also been two other cases in Queensland this year, with a separate announcement on Monday regarding a case in Brisbane's south.

          The infected person arrived on Qantas flight QF 52 from Singapore to Brisbane on Friday, January 17, and was in the Brisbane International Airport area from 6am-8am that day.

          On January 13, a measles case was detected on the Gold Coast, with the infected patient having visited several areas over the course of four days.

          On Sunday, January 5, the patient went to Elevation Church at Tweed Heads and The Strand at Coolangatta. The next day the person visited Coomera Westfield and Movie World.

          On Tuesday, January 7, the person attended Bunnings at Oxenford and the Harbour Town food court. The next day they went to Coles at Pimpama and Noosa, including the Double Island Point lighthouse...

                Two new measles cases identified at Melbourne Airport

                Health authorities are urging Victorian residents to get up to date on their vaccines after two new measles cases have been diagnosed in Melbourne.
                Victoria's Chief Health Officer informed doctors and hospital emergency departments that he had confirmed two cases, a baby boy and a man in his 20, who had recently returned from Nepal and the Philippines.
                The baby boy was onboard a Malaysia Airlines flight from Kuala Lumpur which landed at Melbourne's Tullamarine Airport on Tuesday January 28 at 8.15pm, and could have potentially infected others.
                The man in his 20s travelled from the Philippines to Tullamarine Airport on Friday January 31, and carries the same infection risk...
